Apologies in advance for my negativity, The amount of people that sit in the A&E or ER departments and constantly complain about not being seen after a few hours for such a bloody minor thing... a bruised foot? Really? Do you really think that needs to be seen by a specialist that has to deal with people around them having strokes, seizures, losing their ability to walk, breathe, have their heart beat on their own, for such a small thing? Constant complaining about "Ohh it's taking hours!", you should genuinely be ashamed of yourself. You clearly have no respect for what professionals in the emergency medicine specialty do. Plus, you're in the UK. You have 0 right to complain about wait times considering the fact the NHS is FREE healthcare (Yes, I know taxes are a thing). Emergency medicine operate via triage. There are people that're being treat for the worst possible things right behind you, losing loved ones, abilities to do, think, function, anything like that, and people are treat in order of severity. Someone that has a large wound and is actively bleeding will be seen before your idiotic needs of a damn bruised foot. The GP exists for a reason. You are not in immediate need of emergency care, take some pain medication, elevate it and for the love of God, call the GP and don't bother emergency medicine specialists for such stupidity.

I think you’re spot on with the complaining. Like it sucks to wait- that’s valid- but you think it in your head cause overall you’re waiting for a long time because you’re not critical like the other people coming in by ambulance or helicopter. I will say that we can’t necessarily judge people for coming in for something minor (again, we can judge them for saying negative things) cause there are a ton of situations where people are sent to ER for minor things. I’ve had several situations in the past where I’ve been sent for very minor things simply because no general doc office would be able to do one of the labs needed or do a scan, etc. or they’re not open. Had a few times where something wasn’t dire but it couldn’t wait 2 more days for a regular office to be open so I had to go in to the ER. I felt silly but they were kind and acknowledged that I did have to come in. But the difference was, I waited patiently and was kind.

Yes, although I've had to go a good number of times, it was for severe asthma & I'd wait till I couldn't walk across the room without a whiff of my rescue inhaler before I'd go. I also deal with constant chronic pain from fibro, severe osteoarthritis in my neck & back, bulging discs in 2 areas of the spine & spinal stenosis. I've had the bad pain for about 25 yrs now. I've only been to the ER for the pain once, when it felt as if my lower back was being electrocuted. And I waited for 12 hrs that time. Two hours is a walk in the park! I believe the smartest decision hospitals made, was to allow family members to stay with patients, no matter the age, of that patient. I think it took so much stress out of the family's lives, knowing they could stay in most departments, with their loved one, no matter their age. It not only calmed the patient, but it freed up valuable time, of those nurses, who were required in rooms, giving more attention. If a family member stays with a patient, they can alert the staff of any need, their loved

I wish I could say I would be an elderly couple in a great loving marriage. But that doesn’t come to all of us and unfortunately I don’t have one of those marriages. I wish I could start over and go back 35 years. Unfortunately, life doesn’t go that way. We don’t always foresee. The future and relationships are not always what we think they are going to be. My husband has not been a kind and loving husband. He is one of those with a personality trait that sees everyone else with the problem when really, he is the one with the problem. It’s these shows that I see the long lasting relationships that I know I will never have. Mine has stopped at 33 years. Now I realize even though the relationships we see, look loving and beautiful, they do come with difficulty and trouble. I do want to wish everyone gods blessings. Amen.

The couple in the waiting room complaining and "identifying inefficiencies" annoyed me so much. Clearly never had an actual medical emergency if they think a bruised foot is deserving of instant attention. She wasn't even in that much pain. I hope he is happy with the hormones. My oldest child did this and has been suicidal many times over 5 years. And the changes are permanent. So they must have counseling before the hp is started.

Maybe your child is suicidal because you probably misgender them as you misgendered this person?

Excuse my ignorance, I live in the states, and when i was a nurse i worked at a catholic hospital and our Senior Sisters were nuns, but what is a Senior Sister at y'all's hospitals? Are they like a nurse, practioner, etc?

What is the difference between a consultant and a doctor?
@corvettesbme Жыл бұрын
I'm trying to figure that out too!

A consultant is a doctor. It’s just a bit higher in the hierarchy of doctors
@sebby324 Жыл бұрын
It’s basically a rank of doctor

Ahh possibly like a resident vs attending in the US. Attendings are higher up.

I'm sure most people want/need someone with them when in ER with truma. That helps them. I have to say... the truth is that has never happened to me ever, so I learned to deal with the issues myself. It works will for me & always has. I am so glad for those who have support when they need. But I do find it odd & make sure no one comes or visits me. I would feel very guilty that anyone came. Thankful for the comfort others need & get.
