Anything the chinese government (not the Chinese people) has touched has been contaminated, much like the cool, delicious milkshake with the cherry on top of the whipped cream and the tiny teaspoon of dog urine mixed in. I'm in north Florida and planted my Roselle directly in July. They grew to 10' tall and 5'wide. They had so many calyxes that I have dried enough for a year from 9 plants! I found the more you pick, the more you grow but wait until the calyxes are about 2" long. I did try to eat the leaves but really sour. I will forever plant Roselle as the most giving plant ever. The tea is easy - both hot or cold is so tasty. They survived and bloomed until the first frost. The stems I finally cut off before the first frost, dried in a flower vase and I'm still looking at them. Full of seeds but also gorgeous in flower arrangements. Next year I'm going to try a wreath. No bugs, no disease and fruit that is packed with nutritioon and has way more Vitamin C that citrus! Listen to your Dad - don't plant the seeds early! I'd suggest April or May for second summer planting!

I don't get it. So are all those long term no till gardeners with huge yields secretly tilling and fertilizing? I mean people like that dude in England 🤔
@gardeningwithhoss3 жыл бұрын
I think it's just that they live in a different climate with different soil types. Our sandy soils don't hold nutrients very well.

Another great video fellas!! Thanks for the info Please don’t forget us 9b zones, I imagine you have some viewers and buyers from my growing area. My last expected frost date is Feb 4th, IF we get one at all 🤦♀️ But I started my peppers 🌶 and eggplants 🍆 on Dec 20th and my tomatoes and herbs December 30th. All on heat mats and LED lights. (Might need to grab some of the new hanging lights you were talking about in the show )👍🏻 any idea when you might have them. It’s GO TIME for me here!! Started Probably about 700 plants, in your 162’s and some similar 242 trays. You think I’ll be okay on timing? Planning on getting them out there March 1st. We have such a short spring and it will be toasty 🥵 come July. 100+ degrees in central Cali Valley. Please tell me I didn’t jump the gun. 🤦♀️

What is the fertilizer schedule for the baby plants? And what type of fertilizer do u use?
@gardeningwithhoss3 жыл бұрын
Once the plants have their second set of leaves, aka "true leaves," mix 1 tablespoon of 20-20-20 per gallon of water and fertilize 2x a week.

As soon as you said tictoc you lost me! So you support the chinese communist party? Good luck with that.

Oracle purchased the US version. So the US version is technically not Chinese anymore.

Cabbage and Broccoli are starting to make small heads so these both need to be covered from freezing temps? Supposed to freeze in north Florida Saturday night - PLEASE ADVISE 🥦
@gardeningwithhoss3 жыл бұрын
Cabbage should be fine. If the broccoli heads are small enough to be "sheltered" by the leaves, they'll be fine as well.

Travis, I have a problem. I've started seeds twice now. They are in your seed starter trays under grow lights in the house. The problem is that they are so spindly that they lay over and are very "leggy". The light is close enough and they get 8 hours a day under the grow light. What on earth am I doing wrong? I'm using your soil and your seeds so I know the products are good so I know it's me. HELP!!!!!!!!!!! (I planted spinach, kale, lettuce)
@gardeningwithhoss3 жыл бұрын
Make sure they're watered at least 2-3 times a day. That's the only thing I can think of.

@@gardeningwithhoss Thank you so much Travis, I've been watering them more and they are recovering beautifully. Thanks for taking the time to answer my question. I was getting really frustrated and I knew I was doing something wrong, just couldn't figure out what it was. Thanks again and many blessings to you and your family.

Do you guys have your own compost pile at your farm or could you do a video of starting your own on your homestead?
@gardeningwithhoss3 жыл бұрын
We don't make our own compost. We buy ours from a local cotton gin.

Would it have been smarter for me to leave the heat mat under my pepper starts a bit longer. I shut it off when the peppers sprouted but they seem to not be growing. They look ok, but haven't done anything now but sprout their first 2 leaves. Are they too cold?
@gardeningwithhoss3 жыл бұрын
Doesn't hurt to leave them on there until they get their second set of leaves. That's typically what we like to do, unless we're pressed for space on the heat mat.

How do wax beans compare with others as far as vitamin content goes?
@gardeningwithhoss3 жыл бұрын
Good question. They are certainly more tender, but not sure about the vitamin content.
