Hey Travis! As always an excellent and informative video. Thanks for that! Question... you ended with that 2.5 to 3 packs of seeds, holding about 750 seeds, would be sufficient for a double row 15 ft long. If our math is correct, that would be about 75ish seeds per foot. Did you per chance go back and add seeds to your rows when off camera to speed things along? We thought maybe 20ish had been sprinkled when watching. Hoping not to overkill and have to thin much or under spread and not get as much as hoped for. We appreciate the help in advance. Thanks again for your great and fun videos.

You’re the first person that I have ever follow that said you don’t half to only put three seeds in each spot. I’ve always been told that you need to thin your carrots out and only have one carrot growing per every 4 to 5 inches. Are you saying that I can just sprinkle the seeds in and let them all grow or do they still need to be thinned out?
@gardeningwithhoss
@gardeningwithhoss 3 жыл бұрын
We’ve never thinned ours. They always make room for each other. Yes, we get some small carrots and some big ones, but that doesn’t bother us. 4-5” is way too far.

I recently planted carrots in a couple of raised garden beds. I've never grown carrots before and I did it because I read somewhere that it helps with squash bugs that may overwinter in your beds. It was clearly the wrong time of year for my zone, 8a but I tried anyway. I'm not seeing any germination. I've watched several of your videos but I haven't heard anything about fertilizing carrots and was curious if I should try that before I scrap this experiment.

Fertilizing isn't going to do much if they didn't germinate. We usually don't fertilize them until they start showing some vegetation. You might not have had the right soil temp. Carrots usually like a soil temp between 70-75 for best germination.
