Good Video, I think as well in Australia because we have a housing crisis and renting I think you would know that, it is becoming more expensive because of AIRBNB as well.

Glad you enjoyed the video! That's very true and it's indeed sad/frustrating for locals as they are often getting priced our of their own cities. I recall seeing 'tourists go home' grafittied around Barcelona which goes to show that overtourism and the rise of airbnb / expensive rentals is becoming a huge issue.

Interesting spreadsheet. I travel to europe every summer for 2-3 months but as an older guy haven't used a dorm room since Barcelona in 09 when I woke up with 5 extra pillows. Surprised but not shocked as I am currently travelling and will be in Barcelona tonight. As a comparison I use a mix of airbnb and booking to search for rooms. Last week I had a 3+ star hotel room in Munich for 53Eu say $85 and I have a week on Costa Brava for about $100 a night which less than a dorm room in BCN. These rooms are often twin rooms and often include breakfast which if you can manage it for two would be $50 pp per night. Just food for thought ..

Comparing those prices you mentioned to what I'm currently seeing is crazy. Are these hotels in the city centre? For my upcoming trips I'm definately leaning towards a mix of hotels and hostels as the prices are absurd in some cities.
