Hot Air Balloons from a Paramotor's Perspective | Avery Flies

A really cool opportunity to fly with my dad presented itself, so I took the flight to talk a bit about balloons. I'll show you setup and disassembly from a crew's perspective, and the flight from a paramotor's viewpoint. 4 things a paramotor should not do around a balloon: fly over/under, fly too close, stick around too long, and maneuver downwind. Exercise good etiquette to stay safe and stay on their good side, they probably have a few cool LZs to share!

I was finally able to fly along with a hot air balloon for the first time this weekend and I followed your guidelines! Especially because I wasn't able to speak with the balloon pilot before hand. Kept a healthy distance, always where the pilot could see me, took a few pics and then headed off to fly low in the corn. Thanks for this video...it was really helpful.

That's why I fly ppg, not LTA. I dont need crew to fly, that's the biggest reason.

Thanks! I have seen a lot of people visit balloons, but not a lot talk about how to do it safely and what the balloon pilot is thinking. Hopefully this video gets around.

1. NEVER fly directly over a balloon or under it (keep basket LOS). 2. Don't fly too close or touch wing. 3. Don't maneuver downwind. 4. Don't loiter (noise)
