CBS Sports used this in their NHL Hockey Intro back in 1971.

CBS' version was similar . . . not exactly the same. They also used it for their ABA Playoff telecasts and their coverage of horse racing's Triple Crown events. It lasted for most of the early 1970's . . . a real jaunty tune!

krazykajun15 No but it was much cleaner, and more enjoyable to listen to for the Viewers.

The CBS version was cleaner but had the exact same beat and “sound” … and it was used from 1971 through the mid-1970’s for NHL hockey games and Triple Crown horse racing and some other sports, as well. If you check out any full YT coverage of the entire 1973 Belmont Stakes, not just the race itself, but versions that include the full coverage that started at 5pm ET for that 5:35pm ET race on 6/9/1973, it will include a portion of the CBS theme music.
