Sue, I am so darn excited and love going out every morning and talking to the ladies!! I just put out a video this morning of the upgrade to the chicken coop and run. Can’t say that it’s proof, but I do believe it will work for the time being. Many blessings to you and yours as always

Brother! I absolutely would love to see you and Regina build a chicken coop! Many others would, too. Hope and pray 🙏 soon the county will approve your road and clearing of the trees. Many blessings to you and your family. 🙏 Take care 🙂

Our interest rates here are creeping up. I hope you get what mortgage will be best for you. You are sweating out the worry and stress too. 🙌 Dusty, you are such a breath of fresh air. Your ideals are insightful. Exciting about the chickens. I didn’t say in my last comment but you’ll want something that isn’t just dirt on the floor of the coop eventually when you get eggs coming. They’ll be much cleaner. Take care friend, Annette 🌺

Interest rates are definitely doing just that especially in Washington. I have recently looked into converting most of the property back to forestry land that way our taxes are lower because the entire property right now is labeled residential and even without a house taxes are crazy! Sincerely, thank you Annette. That really means more than you know. 🙏 As far as the dirt floor, I mainly did that just to make sure that the run was level on the inside. That way I can put a better material down for them so things don’t get so dirty. do you have any recommendations on bedding? Every time I think of those little ladies I get so darn excited!! I know it’s definitely a learning process, but it is so welcome!

@@foxhollerhomestead we have a plywood floor in our coop. It has wood shavings on it that we clean out when needed. Usually when it starts to smell like ammonia but hopefully before. That normally only happens in the deep winter when it is closed right up. If you cover the top completely it would save a bunch of hassle as far as the floor goes.

I'm loving the chickens. It's such a blessing that you have this land, I know it sucks you can't do exactly what you want to do, but in the meantime just keep counting those blessings. Hoping to see y'all this summer.

My brother, I am so darn excited for these little guys to move into their chicken run! Even though the permit thing seems to be taking forever, we are still moving forward with little steps like this, and it makes it all worth it!! That would be amazing to see y’all this summer, I’m assuming you’re heading over to the West Coast?!

We used to have 2 roosters and 10 hens. We let them free roam and one day, a hawk got the roosters and 8 of the hens. I cannot believe it got that many in one day. We are now down to 2 hens. I'll keep praying for you to overcome the terrible government red tape. I know you will get the permits.
@foxhollerhomestead7 ай бұрын
Wow!! that’s pretty crazy! The sad part is the hawk probably didn’t even consume all of them! I really appreciate your prayers and I do believe that it’s gonna go through here soon. Fingers crossed.

Get a electric fence charger that's bear rated. We use 12v battery power with a solar charger. We use them to protect the bee hives on the property
@foxhollerhomestead7 ай бұрын
Hey there, my brother! I do believe at some point we’re going to get an electric fence, but for the most part, I have the Bears controlled to a certain part of the property 12 gauge primer lines. How are you doing?

I had to laugh that your son dyed your dog. It reminds me of my old Norwegian, great uncle in Minnesota. He got bored looking out into the pasture, seeing all those white sheep. So he decided to paint them. He got a bunch of cans of spray paint and went to work, painting them. Some had polkadots, some had stripes, some Haven painted red, white, and blue. Have you ever thought about going to the county commission and addressing the issue of the stagnated permit process? Best wishes for you and your family Dusty.
@foxhollerhomestead7 ай бұрын
😂 now that is too awesome!! Definitely a way to make your flock stand out!!! Believe me, my friend, we have tried everything and unfortunately, the last time we confronted the issue with the county, they got all kinds of butt hurt, and Intern made things more difficult. Unless you have money for an attorney to fight the county, you just have to be at their mercy. Many blessings to you and your family, my friend !
