I'm glad that everyone's saying we should normalize idol couples, but I feel like this time the media played a big role. The fact that her relationship got so exposed out to the public and they continued to be invited as a couple to various programs has helped a lot with people accepting this relationship. If they were left in their own, and the news were labeled as a "dating scandal", I'm sure a lot more people wouldn't be okay with them dating each other. Hyuna is a big artist, she's always invited to different programs whenever she drops new material, she's really popular so she has a big influence in the korean media marketing, that along her confidence and speak-out mindset made things go better than expected, so yeah, this time around the showbiz media helped them big time~

if idols date,i dont think fans are necessarily mad or against it, at least not that much fans will be disappointed. i think a lot of fans are okay with it and happy with it. However, it’s just that i think if you like a group and then you have a bias, you will always watch your biases’ contents and engage with them a lot right? There are even fans that love their biases too much that they bought lots of album to get a video call with them (so fans and idols have like this conversation where maybe idols will encourage those fans to study or workhard or whatever and the fans will do the same etc etc) But if he suddenly have a girlfriend, those fans will feel a little bit weird if they still wanna talk with those idol for example still receiving aegyo from these idols as they already had a girlfriend. So naturally, they will start to just adore them from a far and stop buying their merch and stuffs to respect their relationship (i mean imagine his girlfriend’s feelings). So, because of that, this particular idol’s popularity will slowly decrease and no one wants that because their source of money comes from the fans. so i think thats why at the end of the day it doesnt really matter if fans approve that relationship or not because i think it depends on how much these idols want to risk of losing fans. i just think of it that way. So right now hyuna and edawn has like stop this business relationship with fans because they have real relationship with each other. I know that theres a lot of fans who genuinely adore an artist because of his or her music and talent but there’s not that much. Think about why kpop fandoms are so big contradictory to western artists’ ? It’s because these fans were reaaaaalllyy made by idols and company to think that they have some sort of special relationship with fans. Thats why kpop fans are so protective and thats also why kpop idols were rich asf.
