Katee explained numerous times since that Olmos told her that she could be a great actor if she just actually tried. He felt she was not giving enough of herself in her role and she needed to actually become Kara Thrace. She said that scene was the first time she experienced what Olmos meant and she was actually devastated, crying as Kara. Then as she walked away and grabbed her head, that was Katee being overwhelmed by the feeling. She was go on to say he changed her life for the better... made her better.

Edward James Olmos deserved all the awards for his portrayal as Commander Adama. It must have been such a cool experience for younger actors like Katee Sackoff to learn from these masters like Eddie Olmos or Mary McDonnell

This is the episode that made Katee the actor she is today. She was really crying in that scene with Olmos. The story goes that she was phoning in on that scene, so Olmos brought her to the side and let her have it explaining that if she was serious about being an actress she had to do better. Later it was explained that she needed a kick in the pants and he did it out of trying to make her better and not to crush her spirits. Both Olmos and McDonnell (president Roslin, check her out on Dancing with wolves) took all the young actors under their wings to help them develop as actors!

Sci fi was a lot less respected in the awards economy back then. BSG is one of the reasons sci fi became a more respected genre among the general population. Not to say there isn't plenty of sci fi from before BSG that deserves acclaim; it's more of a public perception thing.

Doc Cottle is one of my favorite characters, but his bedside manner leaves a lot to be desired. Probably because he is one of the few doctors aboard a ship where people constantly require medical attention.

And one thing I love is that Six is one of Tricia Helfer’s earliest acting roles, and the showrunners made her the face of the series basically. 24:34 Zack failed his "checkride" - think of it like a final exam for a pilot that you take while flying an actual plane, and if you pass you will get your pilot's license. In this case Zack was so bad that he crashed and died on his checkride.

Lee was right that Zach died because of Adama pressuring him. I don't think that Starbuck would have felt that she needed to help him so badly as to let him pass basic flight training. Zach probably built his whole selfworth around following in Adama's footsteps.

I heard this story about a mishap with a nuke that went down with a plane over North Carolina. One of the nukes that fell out didn’t have its parachute deploy. Multiple fails safes failed and it was a single low volt switch that was turned off that prevented us nuking that state. Stuff happens😮

Yeah that always bothered me so much about the whole backstory. No one else in the entire military considered it investigation worthy that the son of the commander who was dating his instructor crashed during an "incident" that "only unqualified pilots make"? Instead the whole conclusion was somehow that it therefor must have been a crazy freak "accident" as he was clearly, zero investigation required, a qualified pilot? The thing that bothers me about it, is that creates the "lore" of the BSG world being extremely elitist corrupt.
