I love how your style of presentation follows the comedy of Buster Keaton: The actors can only see what is on camera right now, and nothing out of frame. Like when talking about Lady Crawley and her 5 hot dogs on a paper plate. Great video!

1) As Downton Abbey is both back in time and in England so they would be eating Frankfurters not Hot Dogs. As what we call hot dogs were invented in Frankfurt Germany. The name was eventually shortened to Franks in America (Ballpark Franks being a staple of baseball), then later the street slang became Dogs then Hot Dogs. The slang grew in usage over generations until it replaced the proper name (as has happened with many things). 2) They never answered the question. The obvious answer is with a fork and knife. Bonus points if the fork and knife are sterling silver, the fork is a dinner fork and the knife is a dinner knife, and the plate is made of bone china with a floral pattern and gold leaf trim.

Frankfurters, not Frankenfurter, which is a character from Rocky Horror. And the sausages were called that because they were similar to Frankfurter wurstchen. The practice of serving them on a bun started in the US, by a German immigrant.
