lol maybe this was the performance the soshi was talking about in a variety show where the mc asked them what/when are the most awkward moments while performing and Taengoo answered during formal events and they laughed while explaining that they are performing while their audiences were eating and such..and here there are also some foreigners so i think it would really be awkward performing if the audiences dont understand what they are singing

Usually for official events, to reduce technical errors.(sound etc..) Playback or as stated in the previous comments is suggested/required. Another point would be the availability of the right equipment to ensure the performance goes well. It's an official event guys, If you can diminish/reduce the risk, why not?
