I thought this had more energy than the original movie seeing Debbie Alan Dance around the place love the 80s love that show I miss it so much in fact I took modern dance 💃 because of the show and I’m doing the Zumba now in my 50s 💃🕺👯♀️

@@damiencrawford8420 This does have more energy, but the original is more raw and gritty. This one isn't as natural and organic as the original. This one is good, but I still have a lot of love for the movie version.

Watching this has reminded me of my age. Watching Leroy and the young sister in the red heels dance!!! We DID that dance in Chicago back in the 60's and 70's. It's called the "Bop." Although, very few of us could do it as well as the 2 of them, we sure gave it our best effort.

The film started it, the TV Series went downhill, and the second film replaced the idea of innovation (essential to a performer) with by-then compulsory rap. That took the film downhill, while music's actually picking up on input from Africa.

i couldn't help noticing what the author of this video stated in his description: "i've got love for Leroy, but i ain't gay."... then went on about a female cast member he found attractive. 🤔.. it just makes me wonder why gay men don't ever feel the need to protect their homosexuality with statements like Like: "i love Irene Cara, but i'm not straight. Now i'd grab my ankles for Leroy any day!"

I'm still partial to the one they did in the movie, it seemed more authentic somehow (as authentic as something like that can be but hey, maybe stuff like that does happen at performing arts schools), & of course it's just not the same w/out Irene Cara sitting at the piano singing. I liked the show, but nothing beats the movie, they just to me had totally different vibes.

good, but no sorry haha, original version is best by far. the dancers are great here, but unfortunately i can tell that it's scripted choreography. in the movie version, (according to an Interview with Irene) except for the three paid actors (one of them being Irene Cara) they were mostly all improvising. this version also has a rather raunchy electric guitar that is not clean or pretty or warm or anything other than distracting (would be awesome if it was actually a good guitar track added to the mix) and it's muddy as hell sounding and drowning out the rich undertones of the piano and vocal. neat rare clip though, thanks for sharing!

This TV version is vastly different from the film . This version is solely a dance number whereas the film was a musical number overall. The film version is of course far better but you have to give them credit here: This version is goofy and fun I think because they are simply doing it as a dance number and make it silly and infectious.
