A team of cleaners plot to steal thousands of pounds from the Bank of England by taking it from the incinerators and hiding it in their underwear.
Sorry for the poor quality at the beginning of the video.
I recorded this in 2001 using a mid-range VCR (Sanyo or Aiwa I think).

Just watched this after watching it aged 14 in 2001 after begging my parents to let me stay up after the 10pm news 🤣. Sat and watched it with my wife and we absolutely loved it!

This building is located in a place called debden just outside east London..I used to work at debden tube station which is directly opposite this building at the same time as the theft took place..in the early morning all the women used to walk over the railway bridge and walk down a metal fenced path into the building...they all looked pretty miserable...but it did happen and it was kept as low key as possible..I'm pretty sure that no one was able to work out how much was stolen, or for exactly how long...great program.

My parents met while working at the Bank of England in the 1950s. My mum left to stay home and have kids, my dad was made redundant either in the late 60s or early 70s and ended up working for the newspapers. I don't know what my mum did but my dad was a compositor.

Even though this is based on the Loughton Incinerator thefts it has a touch of the Ealing comedy about it as the story is both daring and told in a humorous way with Caroline Quentin from Jonathan Creek leading a good cast.
