I was really pulling for this car scoring a perfect 100. I held my breath after it passed both coupler height tests which is usually where something will be off. Very nicely detailed and accurate box car!

It surprised me, too. I'm always a.little surprised when the coupler test is good on both ends. Thanks for watching!

Beautiful looks to this ATSF SHOCK CONTROL SANTA FE box car. No complaints. You taught me about car wobble on a previous review i fixed an Athearn Box car similar to the one on this video. I did the same adjustment & results: No more wobble & other truck slightly loose for certain turnout tracks. I thank you Daniel for presenting this box car & my own box car repair as well. 👍💯

Seeing freight cars from far away places is something I've always liked when watching real freight trains. Especially back when I was younger, I used to enjoy that a lot. This car will be a great addition to my future layout. Thanks for watching!

I bought several variation of this model and they are some of my favorites. But they were sold out within a matter of weeks of them being available so viewers would be extremely lucky to find one on the secondary market. The repaint date fits in very well with my late 1970's early 80's era. As for seeing more in the future, right now there are projects with deliveries probably well in to 2025, but you never know, sometimes Nick Molo has surprised us. But since he works now on a pre-order bases to estimate demand, I'm guessing we would have advanced notice unless he was sure a model would sell out at limited quantities.

I'll have to keep an eye on the Moloco website. I wouldn't mind getting one of these in 90's brown. I only have a few Moloco cars, but I really like them. Thanks for watching!

Hey Dan. Great review again. I don't know much about Moloco models. But that Santa Fe boxcar is really awesome. Finally a manufacturer who puts metal steps on their cars ! For me the car deserves a perfect score. Wobbling isn't that much of an issue. Not as much as paint, falling parts or couplers height. It's a pretty good quality-price car ratio as I see it. I really can't find something bad on that car. Close to perfection. Keep on your good work.

@@DanielCortopassi Hi again. Thanks for answering. Trains are finally a "universal" thing for all of us modelers. You have no idea how much I would like to see UP or SP rolling stock and engines in reality. I've been seeing them for decades now. As models or on video. Nothing else gives me the feeling of a train coming closer to a railroad crossing. Sounds heavy and strong even if it rolls on a very small structure surface. Here because of the mountains proximity, engine's horn sound clear, loud and from far away. I really like trains. Regards.

Re: “COTS panel” - the AAR Rules call these “Consolidated Stencils”. Over time, the COTS airbrake information was removed as periodic maintenance requirements were removed from the Interchange Rules, followed by removal of periodic wheel bearing lubrication requirements, leaving only identification of the airbrake service and emergency valve portions and built date. In November 2017, AAR removed the requirement for the Consolidated Stencil completely.

This company seems to be questionable as to how much longer it’ll survive. They seem to be stuck on these boxcars with no new models/types coming out. Arrowhead Models being another example that appears to already be closed for good. Website is gone and no new cars coming out.

There are a lot of feelings between different people about prices. That might be worth a video at some point. Things being what they are, this car is in the range for other cars with a similar level of detail and accuracy these days. Thanks for watching!

@@DanielCortopassi What is extra special about these red ATSF Moloco boxcars is they copy specific road number in terms of how they are lettered etc. That makes them out of range with other cars of this level of detail and accuracy. Nick Molo posted photos of the specific cars he modeled each one after.
