@Randiego Жыл бұрын
What is amazing is that you, Zeal and Nick are YOUNG shipwrights. Normally, you see "older" craftsmen fabricating these components as it takes years of experience to perfect the craft. However, you all are doing such an amazing job for younger craftsmen. Zeal, Nick and the "Dutchess", who had a previous life as an artist, not a shipwright, all are doing such outstanding work on the Tally Ho. And the other craftsmen on your team there in Port Townsend who have contributed to this amazing rebuilding of this ship. It is hard to believe that a younger group has the experience and massive tallent to fabricate these components. When we first saw the Tally Ho in Oregon, did we think that it would morph into this craft?" Probably not. I look forward to every installment to watch craftsmen at the art of boatbuilding. First Class, Leo.

What sets the shipwright’s work apart is; not only does it need to have a furniture grade build and appearance, but most importantly, it needs to structurally function and stay together while being subjected to the most extreme conditions imaginable. The constant pounding that an ocean vessel endures, under rough conditions, makes “furniture grade” construction extremely challenging.

Once they finish, then there will still be many things; christening, maiden voyage, captain's logs and hopefully expedition tours and short half-day trips available to book at least once in a while. Maybe sailing classes. The prices would likely be steep, but it could fund perhaps the Next Boat, maybe a replica of Tally Ho to be the home of a permanent sailing school.

When she's afloat and brought back to moor up for a spell in the UK, I'd be honoured to see the Tally Ho...
