Awesome! I been looking to see if someone built a wicked 2.8 I like them and they run like a sewing machine. Yes people, I know they're kits to V8 them and built up bigger motors but this sir is effing Kool!

Thank you I plan on adding a turbo to this motor at some point and a gear change from 3.73 to 4.10s
@PapiDoesIt Жыл бұрын
A 2.8 is weak, but so is a slant six. And they can both be made to produce good power.

I can run the a/c on the highway without loosing power that rebuild made a big difference in the performance
@wymple09 Жыл бұрын
They can be pumped up a decent amount, but not terribly. I ran one hard in a Fiero and shifted at 6K and it held up. Replaced it with a 3800 swap at 168K, it was still good. These engines are not well enough thought of, they raced with them in Baja.

Can you get headers for the 2.8?

They do for the 4x4 s10s but not for the 2 wheel drive trucks anymore, hopefully this motor will get a turbo setup at some point

Had an 87 Firebird with a multipoint FI. I did a basic tune up and rebuilt the suspension. It was no drag racing car, but it handled great and buried that speedo needle way past the 85 on the gauge. Bought the rig for $450 and sold it for $1300. Still miss it.

The 3.4 V-6 is the same engine except more cubic inches and more power , It bolts right up to the same transmission , engine mounts are the same , these engines were in 92 to 94 Camaro ,some Pontiac cars , And a 2 wheel drive is a S-10 A 4 wheel drive is a T-10 In your V.I.N. number on the driver's side WindShield it should have a T in the V.I.N. number , And a 4.3 will fit but you would need to change the transmission also . Can you put aluminum heads on it with the Edelbrock intake and carb?
@dusterdude2257 ай бұрын
The aluminum heads that are available are factory heads that take a different intake I could have made all that work but it would have really slowed the project down and probably would be pretty expensive

I made an adaptor to use the Edelbrock 2 piece intake with my tbi. I used the 2 barrel top and kept my egr system. I also adjusted cam timing with a sbc cam timing kit, these are offset bushings the go into the cam gear when the holes are drilled out. It works on the 2.8l too. Ran really well.

How did this turn out? I've rebuilt my 2.8. I had to bore it .0060 due to damage, KB pistons, upgraded cam, Edelbrock 2 piece performance intake and 389 cfm Holley carb, new heads with larger intake and exhaust valves. My only issue is I'm putting this in a 1983 S10 (4 speed manual) and no one makes exhaust for it. I would hate to have the upgrades wasted by OEM manifolds.
