It is day 2 of our weekend trip in Alabama at the Midpond Raceway with Hot Rush!
In this video, we were allowed to come early not only to fix what cars were broken, but to also have a morning driving session for those who can. I didn't take the Z Cam out during this time and only used my Lumix S5 to make things easier and capturing video quickly. I filmed things as if I was more of a spectator and kept the editing simple and raw without music so just some good drifting content.
Just before the session started, I took this chance to test out the new drone I got which is a DJI Mavic 2 Pro. I actually forgot to buy a sd card for it and the internal storage was only 8gb so I didn't get much footage throughout the day; I did get more footage during the evening which was when I found out I ran out of storage. No ND filters were used because I didn't have any ordered before the trip so I had to bump up the aperture and lower the iso as much as possible, but it still wasn't enough to keep the 180 degree shutter rule recording at 4K 30fps.
So at some point, Mikey got his car all fixed because the night before, he and some of his friends who came to visit him actually went and sourced out parts needed to get his car back on the track which consist of at least lower control arms and coilovers that I know of. After getting the car back together, he was able to drive during the morning with some of the guys.
Just before we broke out for lunch, Justin did some final laps around the track and unfortunately a bit of a tragedy happened. During one corner as he was exiting, his car shut off. Then I saw smoke as he got out of the car so I ran towards him to find out what was happening. He eventually figured out that part of his intercooler piping popped out and his turbo downpipe seemed to broke loose and caused a fire. Fortunately he got the fire extinguished. And so another was once again broke down and towed by the Midpond Crown Vic.
This was the end of our morning session. What will happen next during our evening session? Tune back in for the next video to see more drifting from the guys!
