Full Hook-Up Sites! Hot Springs National Park Camping at Gulpha Gorge Campground #campgroundreview
Gulpha Gorge Campground is your base camp for visiting Hot Springs National Park and Bathhouse Row. This campground is in the national park, so you will enjoy discounts if you have a qualifying pass. Bonus- All of these sites offer electric, water, and sewer! They are adequate in size, providing some space between you and your neighbor. Many sites are located creekside.
Gulpha Gorge Campground is located at the base of Hot Springs Mountain along the clear Gulpha Gorge Creek. There is hiking right from the campground and you can even hike up and over the mountain if you want to hike to Bathhouse Row. The hiking trails are well-marked and scenic, providing informational kiosks along the way.
If you want to go by car, there is the Hot Springs Mountain Loop auto tour on the top of the mountain and the scenic overlook tower, but there is a fee for the tower.
Bathhouse Row provides a look at the early days of Hot Springs and you can even take a soak in a mineral bath at one of the two operating bathhouses. Visit the Fordyce Bathhouse, which is Hot Springs Visitor Center, and tour the three floors of this bathhouse with plenty of information on Hot Springs, back in the day. Take a walk on the wide, paved Promenade Trail and feel the hot spring water as it flows from the mountain. Here, you can take a trail and hike up to the top of the mountain, if you choose.
There are restaurants, ice cream and candy shops, and lots of little shops to explore along Bathhouse Row. You can even take some mineral water home with you. Just fill up your bottle at one of the filling stations.
We enjoyed our stay at Gulpha Gorge Campground, sitting out and listening to the little waterfall behind our motorhome! Sharon especially enjoyed the hiking. Next stop, another Hot Springs area campground, Lake Catherine State Park.
