Love this! Before you added the extra swipes at the corners, etc, I liked the orange/red end. With the red/orange at the top, green/blue at the bottom, the streak up the middle--I saw a molten explosion from the ocean floor! There was “explosive” movement at the orange/red end. I don’t usually use silicone but now I have to! Well done! 👍❤️

It seemed like around 7:08 you got a bit too concerned about how the black corners were not uniform (lacking color) with the rest of the piece and attempted to manually fix it which led to less and less desirable results each time as it counter acted the natural flow of the piece and original pouring technique. It looked just fine with the black corners. Bob Ross even teaches that darker corners bring the focus more to the center of the piece. Should have kept it there in my opinion as it looked fantastic. Otherwise tilting the piece to correct the corners would have been a better approach to filling in the color as it would not disrupt the flow of paint.

i get that this might be a more unpopular opinion but i really liked the finished product; while it certainly looked nice halfway through, i thought the smearing gave it the visual complexity needed to bring it together as a *_picture_* rather than just a nice colourful pattern. but you know, beauty's in the eye of the beholder and all that.
@dragonlady32784 жыл бұрын
cute mess I loved the finished product as well! Yes there was a point where I was thinking hmm I think it looks good there just stop. But it’s not me creating so not my call. Art is subjective. And the finished product is beautiful. NocturnalState OfMind it doesn’t take that long. Mine are seemingly dry in about 24 hours but I know that is a lie and it just wants me to touch it and ruin it 🤣 I dunno about everyone else but I can just look at mine and know yep it’s dry. I leave mine sit overnight on a tray to let it kinda set in before I jostle it moving to a rack where it dries for about 3 days. The first 12 hours is the hardest because I have cats and I’m always wondering “am I gonna wake up to that fresh pour being knocked over and having a cat shaped silhouette complete with fur and paint paw prints throughout my house with paint slowly dripping off the canvas and onto the floor????” But so far (knock on wood) I haven’t had that problem 😂

Personally, I feel that there was a lot of wasted potential here. You really had something great to work with at 6:15. At that moment in time, with some black still left at the edge, it looked like a tree, left to rot, facing the break of a new day. But that's the great thing about art, isn't it? That's how I personally feel about it. If you like your end result, and others like it as well, then that's great! Keep doing what you do. Even though I'm not a fan of the end result, you work like you know what you're doing, and you do know what you're doing! You are very talented, even if I'm not a fan of what those talents have led to in this video, it's impossible to say that you are unskilled.

Gitts The Skittle so true
@thewarroom31175 жыл бұрын
What is Art the expression or application of human creative skill and imagination, typically in a visual form such as painting or sculpture, producing works to be appreciated primarily for their beauty or emotional power. Please do not try to improve on this person work, as to that would defeat the whole purpose of art... the painting is exactly what it is meant to be.. no more, no less this is art...like or not.
@FormaldeHyena5 жыл бұрын
@@thewarroom3117 I didn't say it was art, and I never said he could've improved on it. I only said that it's not in my taste. It absolutely is art, and it's amazing art, but again, my tastes are different.
@makadray5 жыл бұрын
Gitts The Skittle the fact that you even felt the need to state that you don’t like how his creation turned out is actually you offering a suggestion on how he can improve on his work. Really quite a backhanded comment, you’ve tried to disguise your personal criticism of someone else’s work as a compliment. If you weren’t trying to offer up a suggestion of improvement then I wonder why you bothered stating your criticism in the first place when you yourself stated that art and opinions on art are subjective.

My question pretty much embodies what's been summed up below: how do you know when you're DONE? Like others, I thought it was done at 7:00 but I would have been wrong. Any reason that can't be the end? I guess other than the fact you'd have too much paint on the canvas and it'd never dry so therefore it has to be dragged off. :)
@JohnFranklinArt5 жыл бұрын
Nice question! I have that in my feeling. I look at the picture and if I like it I stop. Very easily! I don't think much, I trust my intuition. best regards John

As an art instructor and painter with 3 decades of painting under my belt, I follow advice given to me long ago from a mentor: when you feel you can neither add nor take away anymore, then you are done. As John says, It’s a feeling. Painting is like a house of cards, when it meets YOUR EYE for balance and equilibrium, you’re done, but it can easily fall apart with too much manipulation or never feel finished with too little. For some that is at the 7:00 minute mark, for others it’d be some other time. Happy painting!
