1992 all the way. It looked better on the screen and it looks better here. The Art Deco streamlining matches the armor on the Batmobile and Gotham City in the film, and the cowl is far and away the best of any Batman film.

I was always a Fan from Batman Returns ... i love this Suit ... i like Both Movies from Keaton but i Prefer the Returns one I have the 89 Neca version from Michael Keaton and he was my first Batman Figure ... and i havr now the 92 from HT ... he looks soo Damn good ... this Cowl is just Amazing 😍 he looks so damn realistic

Cool man! Yes this 92 version of batman returns is epic. So realistic in the face and suit. They really nailed Keaton's likeness. Both of these Keaton batmans are some of the best figures in hot toys line. Thanks for stopping by👍

Nice comparison. Missed out on the DX09, but scooped up the Returns and love it. Hopefully I can score an 89 eventually. As far as the suites I can't decide. Both looks for Keaton are iconic in my eyes.

Yeah man, they both look how Keaton looked in both films. I love both of them, so it's hard to decide! Lol I love them both for diff reasons. But the 92 returns is badass. Hopefully you can get your hands on the dx09 1989 bats!

Great review mate. I've just ordered the 89 Batman to go with the Batmobile :) Both movies are great but I'm more of a fan towards the 89 original, both figures look spot on. The Bat logo on the 89 stand is correct to the movie used on the cover, posters and intro, as is the one on the suite, aside from the fact that the colours on the stand should be the other way round :)

+TheToyReviewer 1984 revived my figure, all great except on the third time of moving his eyes one of them stopped moving. Seemingly a common issue with the PERS.. shame they don't use metal for the controls

You forgot to mention the overall shape of each cowl. The original is much rounder than the returns version. Plus the eyes on the Returns version are in a bit of a squinting look.

1992 is better is very well made especially the face who dafuck said that 1989 seems more keaton!!! Those eyes don't really seem keaton's eyes... but they are both awesome... I have both of them but 1992 is better

To be honest, I have never tried. Lol. They might? They both have a ball peg neck/head that snaps onto the body.

Personally I feel you're doing 89' a disservice by not showing the swap out mouth pieces including the awesome battle damage one and the accessories that came with him as those I feel set him above 92'. Also, '89 has a companion piece, '89 Joker which can't be beat. I would not consider '92 a must have UNLESS hot toys makes a penguin or catwoman fig to go with.

Good points man. I agree the 89 had a boat load of accessories and better face plates. And the 2 joker figures were awesome with him. I have the mime version and they're awesome together. Now that you say that, I am starting to love them both equally. It's been wearing on me looking at these 2 guys side by side now for weeks. Their both amazing. turkb01 that's a great question. 👍 I would say they both will stand the test of time if you keep them in a cool dry place, and out of the direct sunlight. That's what I would suggest.

I wouldn't call these a "toy", they're a high end collectables. The 1989 DX09 Batman will run you $300-$400 and the Batman Returns will run you around $220.

I don't mess with my hot toys once I open and display them. So I probably won't try switching the heads. I am very careful with my hot toys. If I had to guess they will probably fit on each other's bodies.

The 92 is just overall a cleaner build,....the 89 is a bit awkward, compressed face & body. You really can't lose though owning either one.
