I’ve got this on pre-order. To be honest, I was worried about the weathering, as from what I’d seen previously, it looked really yellow and awful, to the point where I was considering cancelling it. Will make a decision once I see the ROTJ version, if it’s released. But, from your review, and another one I’ve seen, the weathering is not too bad. Prefer the weathered look - think the original is a bit too clean looking. I like a bit of grime on my figures! Hey David!! Thanks for watching! Yes!! I thought I’d seen photos of it looking overly weathered too, horrible orangey or like you say yellow kind of colour? But this is nothing like that thankfully. I’m really liking the weathered grimy look too but I also love the pristine look we see at the end of ANH! Glad you find the side by side comparisons useful 😀 Thanks again for watching 👍🏻😀

I have this ordered and its my first R2 Hot Toy, really cany wait. I like the weathering as it remands me of a A New Hope & Tatooine. But I am sure no mater what version I'm going to love it. :)

What a fantastic wee figure, absolutely love it , think I prefer this R2 with the more distinctive weathering, really well engineered isn’t it and love the Easter egg addition of C3P0’s head being dragged behind🤣 agree with you on keeping both to allow different detolf set ups👍. These wee batteries are so fiddly to get in and set up.. patience required but the end result with the lights and sound effects is brilliant , so well worth the effort. Congratulations on this brilliant pick up, really enjoyed seeing it with all the attachments 😂 , thanks for another great video as always, very much looking forward to whatever may be up next, stay well😀

Hey Andrew!! Yes you’re spot on it’s a really well engineered, solid figure! I love it! The weathering is fantastic, but I do like the pristine look like in ANH too. But yeah while both are in the collection I can have weathered and unweathered versions 😃 Agree with you on the batteries as well, they can be very fiddly!! 11 batteries in this set too! 😅 Thanks for watching and commenting, much appreciated as always 🙏🏻☺️

Pre ordered this guy when it got announced due to missing out on the OT one. Since then I came across the OT one for a steal and couldn't pass it up. Still glad to get this version though, the dirty weathering looks incredible on it.

Dude, I love the extra accessories with the other R2-D2 you have. I know it’s not much, but the restraining bolt and the data card is so good! I’d have to lean more towards the weathering and grime on the ATOC release, but an argument could be made for the other one. Can’t beat one remote powering both either! Awesome review man! Great seeing the comparisons especially. Killed it! 🙌🏼🍻

Yeah mate, I had the Sideshow one a whole back. There’s some older videos on the channel first reviewing the sideshow version and then when I got the Hot Toys version in. I remember the Sideshow one being pretty good as a display piece 🙂👍🏻

Must admit I liked the Sideshow one with the drinks tray and the hologram table 🙂 But yeah the Hot Toys ones feel a lot more solid and substantial. Yeah I definitely recommend tracking down ESB Yoda!! Such an amazing set! Cheers for watching 😀👍🏻

I've picked this one up to replace my sideshow ( toy ) version, I might convert that one into a post death star destruction X Wing removle version, for me this is the ultimate R2D2 figure im over the moon with him 😁 stay safe and have fun 😎

Nice upgrade! I like the Sideshow version but there’s a noticeable jump in quality when moving to Hot Toys isn’t there! Great idea to do the post Death Star destruction R2! If you do that I hope you do a vid, would love to see how how it turns out!! Thanks for watching mate 😀👍🏻

Both versions do look very similar. Since I mostly collect Prequels and Clone Wars characters, it only made sense to get the AotC version. I'm still waiting for mine, so I was curious about the weathering. I got this version mainly for the rocket options -- I like my R2 to be able to fly! But the weathering looks pretty good, and is fitting for a Clone Wars version of him (he's always very dusty and dirty in that series). It's also funny to me since I'm pretty sure the fact they put SO much sand in all his cracks and crevices was supposed to be a reference to the 'it's course, rough, and irritating, and gets everywhere' line. ;p

Same here! I questioned wether it was worth getting this version having already got the OT version but the rocket boosters were the clincher for me too! 😄Yeah that sand definitely "gets everywhere" ! 🤣🤣

Nice video👍, but the background music and the noises from R2 - D2....it's a bad idea. Stop the music at least for a while. Of course if you want these RD-D2 noises to be heard loud and clear.

Fantastic looking figure!! I like them both. It's a definite figure to have for any Star Wars fan. If I had a Luke then I would get one. Just sorted out a deal to get my grail at a really good price. Hopefully showing next week. Anyway bud great video and a Top figure of R2D2.
