Hot Wheels Emily Compagno's '72 Mach 1 Mustang

Emily Compagno is our friend and occasional racing buddy, and when her ’72 Mach 1 broke on its own on the road, we drug it back to our shop and built it into the masterpiece you see here. It was also up for a special Hot Wheels prize but we still haven’t heard whatever happened with that.

A shop I worked at, we ran a Mach I in NHRA Stock class. It was a beast. Doug Nash did the 4 sp transmission. We ran a 6.00 gear ratio for awhile. 351 Cleveland is a beast.

He spent all he made from his part time after school job upgrading and detailing it. These were really nice cars, and I miss the 70's & 80's. EVERYTHING was better then.

I had a '72 Mach 1. Silver and flat black. Only 44,000 miles on it when I paid $12K for it in '04. It was all show and no go as I kept it stock. I couldn't get it to spin the tires with the automatic transmission but once it got going it ran well. I wish I still had it and put a Coyote crate engine in it. By God it would haul arse off the line then! Cheers!

I know she talked about her car, and as a kid of 60s,70s I love muscle cars. This is the 2nd time I have seen it, the other was the picture cleaning for the new engine. I'd take her over the car any day. Italian, from my home town, and perfection of beauty. One of the few reason older men wish they were young again. I've always been in love with Emily, she's a sweetheart❣️ Love you even more since you're a Mustang fan. Only two things I dislike about the car: the flames and the wheel setup. Beautiful paint job though. Same size wheels and tires would look much better going down the road. The drag setup is great for drag racing but not for that beauty. Like it very much though. These are really cool looking cars. But I drove one back in the 70's. You can't see anything behind you. Rear visibilty is pretty close to nonexistent. I guess the idea is to go fast enough you never have to worry about what's coming up behind you.
