Is that Ferrari 458 Italia an error? I can see it had a tampo pass on the right side but only for the Scuderia Ferrari shield, it's missing the stripes from the left side unless that's intentional. I've heard hearsay on the Hot Wheels Reddit that Ferrari hated the Tooned Ferrari Enzo so much that they refused to license to Mattel again but it doesn't line up with facts considering the first release of it was a decade before Mattel lost the Ferrari license and the last release of it (in black and gold, which I think looks fantastic on it) was in 2008, not to mention how Maisto did pretty much the exact same thing with that Muscle Machines F40 so Ferrari doesn't seem to be against "tooning" their cars. The real reason that Mattel lost the Ferrari license is almost certainly that they were simply outbid by May Cheong Group (Maisto/Bburago) the last time the license was up for bids almost a decade ago. I don't have any inside info but I strongly suspect that the Ferrari rights will be up for bids again within the next year. I believe the previous licensing period by Mattel was from 2005 to the end of 2014 (they could still sell ones made in 2014 after the end of the year, hence why they were still releasing Ferrari Hot Wheels well into 2015). I suspect Ferrari diecast licensing was a lot more open before 2005, like any diecast manufacturer could license direct from Ferrari instead of having to sublicense from whichever company had the master diecast rights. It's one of my biggest gripes that Mattel hasn't sublicensed the occasional Ferrari from current rights holders May Cheong Group, at least for premiums (it's probably too expensive to do so for mainlines). I'm really surprised that the Boulevard F40 sells for more than the Ferris Bueller Ferrari 250 GT California on eBay especially considering that the 250 GT California was a one-and-done casting that never got a second release since Mattel lost the Ferrari license only one year later. I also think the 250 GT California is a much nicer casting than the old F40 casting, which has nostalgia value but which is proportionally inaccurate to the real car, which looks much wider in real life. The Matchbox F40 was much more accurate to the real car.

@@DieCashCars Another thing, I'm not really one for predicting price spikes but I wouldn't be surprised if the Hot Wheels Retro Entertainment Ferris Bueller Ferrari 250 California spikes just under 3 years from now once the Ferris Bueller's Day Off 40th anniversary hype starts up. That's unless Mattel either gets the Ferrari diecast license back or they finally start sublicensing Ferrari from the current license holder and they decide to do a re-release of the Ferris Bueller Ferrari 250 California just in time for the 40th anniversary.

You made me pull out my HW ferrari's that aren't in storage. Many of mine are in the packs..., like my FF, but I do have several loose. Your car from 1970 is nice! I think "tooned" cars are for the birds. I've been collecting since the early 90's, and fortunately i have a couple of 1:18 and 1:24 ferrari models. Thanks much!

Man, and here I am making sure my Ferrari collection has the least red pieces as possible. Love that 288GTO in the forefront, have it in orange! I am a huge fan of Ferrari and Hot Wheels Ferrari's, Ferrari's are one of those cars when I'm at the shows or flea market whatever it might be I buy everyone I see. Right now I have six 72 car cases full and started on the seventh one. That Ferrari red line you picked up is freaking sweet, I like it and I would not mind having it but not at that price, Most of the time when I really want something I will just wait and wait until I find one for a good price that I am willing pay for. Excellent piece

You need at least one more: The 1973 "Shell Promo" variant on the Ferrari 512S in enamel red. This casting was was based on the 1972 release. That red variant is only in spectraflame red. Great video.

Posing a question regarding the 2009 FE Ferrari 250 GTO: I know there are a few paint variations out there (painted vents vs non painted vents), but have you seen the "19" variant in the First Edition Blister? I know the "19" version was found in a 5-pack, but I recently came across an international short-card with it, and it doesn't have the tell-tale signs of tampering. Thoughts?

Hi it's Oct 2024 and I just watched your vid and had no idea HW had lost their lic with Ferrari. Been collecting HW for about 35 years and I always go thru each collection to see what's what. Had kinda back of my mind wondered why no Ferraris but outta sight outta mind. What's your thoughts now with prices really going up as far as an investment? Loose vs carded? About $10 to $15 for anything on secondary market.

I totally approve the interest in a niche collection, although in this case it comes with the usual disappointing emphasis on money, money, money. I have about fifteen Ferraris, only eight of which are red.

This guy is just another scalper in a line of a hundred thousand of them. They just promote their own bull-ish trying to manipulate the market in their favor. Really when you get down to it the overhead of scalping basically kills the ability to make any legit money, and they don't even sell for that much if you look at comps instead of list price. Anybody with a regular job makes more than scalpers. If these jag offs want to sell, they should get a retail license, buy wholesale, and stop trying to take advantage of people.

I love Ferrari too. you just cant go wrong with Red Ferrari hahaha For me I did once found a stach of Hotwheels ferrari but I sold them as quickly as I got them considering that prices will fall down as soon as Hotwheels get Ferrari License back. For a moment I heard that Hotwheels lost Toyota license as well and in that time I quickly grabbed alot of Toyota in my collection but thankfully that did not materialised and now we see Fast and Furious Supra also which i love. But in all honesty I love what Tomica is also doing with Ferrari, I mean they introduced some Ferrari with opening features.
