Good review, dude! I was just playing this game randomly (I mean legit, using a random number generator and a list of PS1 games, haha), and you pretty much addressed every thought I had about this one. It's always difficult to talk about games that aren't bad but are just kinda okay-ish. Now days it seems like everything needs to be either a 10 outta 10 or 0 outta 10 worst game ever, reading/watching takes online.

Cheers, I’m happy you enjoyed the video 🙂 and I know exactly what you mean about the 10/10 thing. For some people It even goes as far as not even giving an oldish game a go because of graphics (including late PS3 games) which is shame and very odd to me. There many classic games out there to enjoy and Hot Wheels Turbo Racing is one for sure 👍🏻

IIRC, the PAL version is missing some content. I know the NTSC version has three more tracks that get unlocked when you beat the Secret Car Cup. It’s still a pretty short game overall, but that is forgivable considering its target audience. I’m sure kids eked out many hours trying to find all of the Mystery Cars (and I don’t blame them: some of them are deviously hidden).

It’s alright for what it is and the mystery cars stacked a few hours on the playtime, genuinely loved going out my way looking for these wondering what car I would get. some was great, others not haha

@@jaymstar Agreed. It’s possible the lack of content is also attributable to how they encoded the soundtrack. Turbo Racing is one of a few PSX games that you can pop into a CD player to listen to the music. It contains almost an hour of music, so it’s basically a full-length music album that also crams a game in the same CD. That must not have left a whole lot of room for content.

I did not know that ha, that’s an awesome implementation. That makes the game value that much more. Bonus points for the great soundtrack too 👍🏻
