@@dliv33 Bob did not give him the name “JR GONG”. I agree that his father would be very proud of him, his siblings and grandchildren as well. They all have done very well for themselves and have also continued his legacy. The name “JR GONG” was “given” to him when he was a child attending an event for his late father at 56 Hope Rd. He was trying to get through the crowd to enter and the man at the entrance working there had yelled out to the crowd for them to “make way” (allow Damian to get through the crowd). He yelled “Make way for JR GONG, JR GONG come tru (through), so he could enter. Gong was one of Bob Marley’s nicknames, hence the name Jr Gong.

Let's be clear: the primary reason that ganja is illegal in Jamaica has to do with the US. Jamaica tried several times to legalize ganja, but the US reminded us that we needed its financial aid and were at their mercy when it comes to trade agreements. It's only because of what has happened in Colorado and Washington State that Jamaica is now "allowed" to make such a move.

Nas x Damien Marley album is underrated because they swayed away from the norm or from what was trending at the time. Not many artists out here have the balls to do things like that. Maybe only Kanye West does & Chance The Rapper. When this album was released i couldn't fuck wit it because it was above me. As i grew up and became more aware of certain things just in life about black history, politics etc. & also appreciated old school music even more. Now i appreciate this album because this is a masterpiece.Simple. It is very authentic. Well structured and has a great theme and style. Equipped wit relevant and meaningful samples. A powerful message also. Touches on status quos and unanswered questions. Very powerful music. This kind of album educates you on music, politics, history and just life as a whole. It expands ur knowledge on music allows you set the bar higher on what is high quality music. Rather than sticking to what mainstream fans like. It challenges that. That is beautiful. I wish artist would do that more nowadays. Challenge my taste for music. Show me that music can get better or make me see ur vision instead of following what is already been done. New artists need to learn how to appreciate music before their time. Don't just be a rapper. Be an artist.

Cause the Grammy's only acknowledge basic white music. Once in a while they award genuine REAL talent, however for the most part, they ignore true authentic ORIGINAL talent. They ignore the people who CREATED the music they like to award themselves with.
