PTSD is one part of the streets that doesn’t get talked about enough. I spent from age 13-35 in the streets and I deal with severe PTSD daily. The nightmares and paranoia are a daily struggle. I’m in therapy, been going weekly for just over four years now, and it’s just as bad as it was before I started going. There is something inside me that’s broken and will never be “fixed”…I just deal with it as it comes. If I could go back and tell my younger self what the streets would do to me, the younger me wouldn’t listen honestly, but I wish I would have chosen a different route.
