Angie, you should watch a recent video uploaded on PaulasChoice KZbin channel. Nathan explains why products like Rapidlash don't work in the same way that Latisse does. Definitely watch it before you waste your money. Sure, those over the counter serums are less expensive, but if they're ineffective then money wasted is money wasted. Great review.

I was going to tell Angie the same thing, as I just saw that video myself. I used to use RapidLash when it had the active ingredient in it and had success, but since the ingredient is no longer in it, I stopped buying it. I was considering Latisse, but I can't afford it.

Comebacksparkles ! I've been using the generic version for at least 3 years, too, with results identical to the pricey brand name. I'm not sure if anyone has pointed this out yet, but after using bimatoprost (generic Latisse) for about 4 months, you can decrease the frequency of application to every other day and still maintain the same results.Other confessions (lol): although it's not intended for use on lower lashes (as I'm sure they don't trust the public not to get it on the waterline, and thus into the eye), I just run it beneath my lash line, and I also use the same applicator for several weeks(!). The brush touches nothing but my own clean skin (not my eyes), so it's truly not much different than using makeup brushes.I also wear contacts and have occasionally experienced mild irritation, but nothing substantial.

Thank you! Most reviews I've seen have been younger women with lashes that were already long and full. You're the first person reviewing who started with truly short ones. I'm still contemplating, although I could really use the length and thickness. Where the hell do our lashes go as we age? Do they simply migrate to our chin?

Angie, I have been using Latisse since October and I have been seeing a huge difference. My short Asian lashes have almost doubled in length. I use an elf angled eye liner brush. It makes the application easier and more gentle to my lids. I can get the product right to the roots of the lashes in stead of all over my kids. Also, it doesn't waste the product so much. I just rinse the brush under running water after each use. I also found that after the first month, I didn't have to use it as often to maintain the length. Every other night is enough now. I am hoping to stretch it as far as once a week, which is what my friend does. Good luck with your lash journey!
@TheBchbunnie49 жыл бұрын
I was just going to post this same thing!! I have been using Latisse for over a year now and I have always used a liner brush to apply it! Those brushes they give you are a great way to make you use more product! One drop covers both eyes for me and I can get about six months out of one bottle! Also...once the lashes have grown in, I only use it every other night as maintenance so that makes it last longer too.

Rapid lash is Amazing! I have Asian eyes however with that being said I did have ok lashes for my nationality. But not long or thick. You can get it at Amazon.com or Bed Bath and Beyond. I believe it's cheaper on Amazon though. Ever since my friends have been commenting on how long my lashes are now! Love love love. It's around $40 vs $120 or whatever Latisse costs. And DO NOT use Grandlash, if you have sensitive eyes that stuff will leave you bloodshot ALL day. Now it's great for brows. Rapid lash you use sparely almost like a thin line of liner at night and I use what's left on brush for my lower. No worries on eyecolor change either. Doesn't irritate however, you may experience more hair growth in other regions such as right above your lids but that can be waxed during your usual brow wax routine. And I noticed slight hair growth under my eyes above my cheeks. But I'm prone to dark facial hair anyways so nothing wax can't fix. Hope this helps!

I would suggest not wasting your time with the Rapidlash etc because they don't do a thing. I stopped Latisse for awhile after years of using it and lost everything I had gained. Since they are non RX they can't work to grow, they can only condition. I CAN say after using Latisse for over three years that the irritation you mention is only in the initial more rapid growth phase...after that you don't feel any. I also found that after about a year, I could use the product every other night or even just three times a week and it would work just fine to maintain the results. Speaking of results, where you are now will probably double or triple over the next 3-6 months. For myself and the three friends I have who all started together, we all seemed to max out and get into maintenance mode at about 12 mos. Hope this helps!

Hi, Angie! I just finished watching this video about Latisse and read some of the comments. I've been a RapidLash user now for over a year and I have to tell you that I've had great results using it. I'm 62 and had very short sparse eyelashes. I wanted to try Latisse but didn't like the side effects and price. I bought my first tube from Amazon from a seller that has over 1,900 reviews. I read a lot of the reviews first and some people didn't have any luck using RapidLash but a lot of people did, so I thought, what the heck! Anyway, within a couple of weeks I started to notice a slight difference in the length and volume of my lashes. I continued to use it every night and within a couple if months, I had long and thick lashes. I also tried it on my brows but for whatever reason it did nothing for them. Anyway, I'm very happy with RapidLash and at about $29 or $30 for a 3 to 4 month supply, I think I'll stick with it! Maybe it doesn't have the same growth chemical in it that Latisse has but something in it works for me!

When I got this, the nurse suggested I place one drop in the cap of the little vial and use a fine craft brush ( I got one at Hobby Lobby) to apply. I found this the be very easy. Much less irritation too because you are not getting so much product on your eyelid, just lash line. Maybe that will help. I love using this stuff.
@glassgoddess86469 жыл бұрын
A really good tip is to put a drop in the cap & then dip the eyelash wand in the cap. This will keep you from wasting product :) Repeat for the other eye. I honestly put 2 drops in the cap & use the same wand, this way I actually have enough product for both eyes & my brows. Hope this is helpful; )
@dclifton38109 жыл бұрын
My dermatologist recommended "off the record" that I use a very fine, synthetic fiber eyeliner brush for application. You put one drop of product in the cap then dip the brush in the lid. You can sanitize the brush with alcohol. It evaporates and leaves no traces to sting my eyes. When you use a fine brush, you can control the placement of the liquid and aren't forced to get as much on your actual lid.

Angie - I KNOW what you mean about those Latise applicators, so I ditched them and instead use an eyeliner brush. This is a new, natural hair eyeliner brush and I wash it after every use with HOT water and allow to air dry. I've been doing this now for over 2 years and it works like a charm. The soft eyeliner brush isn't irritating to the eye lids and also doesn't take as much product. Using this method, I've been able to use a single kit (which is supposed to be for a month) for 6 months. This saves me money since the pharmacy cost for the Latise is $106 per kit. . Oh yeah, I know what they say about keeping those brushes "sterile." But, do you keep your mascara wand "sterile?" No, just hygienically clean and that is what I do with my eyeliner brush technique. Hope this helps.

Hi Angie, Elizabeth Arden has a product that can be used on brows AND lashes. I believe it's $120/tube. I have found it works AMAZING! I have a nervous condition that I subconsciously pull out my hair when I'm nervous or anxious. Unfortunately, my eyebrows and eyelashes have bared the brunt of this unfortunate condition. I'm 44 years old, so as you might guess, the hair was reluctant to grow back 😥 However, after using the Elizabeth Arden serum, my lashes grew immediately back, and my brows are working their way back as well. The serum is easy to apply with a little brush in the tube, and you can put it on while you're wearing contacts. My tube lasts about 3 months, and I apply it to my lashes and brows twice a day. I hope this helps. Thanks for your videos!

Hi Angie, I definitely see the difference! I have a tip for keeping the one drop on the brush. Turn the brush up vertically so it is facing the ceiling instead of horizontally. They gave me that tip at my medical spa and it works. I actually had begun using Latisse December of 2013, but then my younger sister suddenly passed away in January of 2014 and I was crying so much for so many months I just never went back to using it becuase I knew I would be waking up in the middle of the night and cry it off. I'm doing better now that a year has passed and may try it again. Thanks so much for all of your videos!

Angie, I used Latisse a few years ago, saw results but it definitely changed the outer rim color of my eyes from black to a medium blue. I just noticed it one day and was so surprised. But I have also used a couple other brands so not sure which one made the change--or a combination of a few. Anyway, I didn't like the idea of all the chemicals and the cost. I now make my own oil serum and use it every night. It's just castor oil, sweet almond oil and vitamin E oil (6 parts castor oil to 1 part each of the other 2 oils. You can put it on with a finger or get empty mascara tubes and fill them. I buy from Mountain Rose. I just started this a few weeks ago and although it's a little oily I'm seeing some nice results already. Really into oils for beauty right now--especially Rose Hip Seed oil--love it on the face and neck!

I have been using a product called careprost for nearly two years. No problems, no issues, but beautiful long lashes. So long they reach nearly the bottom of my eyebrows, so then they have to be trimmed. Careprost is much less expensive, but if purchased 6 at a time, there is a good discount. I would never go to any other product. It looks like I have false eyelashes on. Try this product, instead!

I did see the difference, but for the price, I'd rather just use the Lancôme eyelash primer. I'm the same as you...when I'm tired...I just don't want another step to do. I do massage argon oil into my lashes every night. It conditions them so they don't dry out from the makeup products , and I see far less shedding doing that. I am lucky that I have , if not long lashes...acceptable lashes that become long with the Lancôme and one or two coats of mascara. Tight lining my upper lash line also gives the appearance of thicker lashes. Thank you for showing us your tryout period of the Latisse. It convinced me I don't need to go there. The expense and the extra time to apply for the results ...just aren't making me want to run out and get a prescription. You saved me some cash! :)

Hello! I've actually tried Latisse and it definitely worked for me. I totally agree that it made my lashes grow in length not in thickness. Instead of using their brushes I actually used a brush I already had (small lip brush)- small enough to go over the lash line. A little trick I did was take the cap of the Latisse bottle and put one drop in the little dip of the cap to use for both eyes which would make the product last longer.

Hi Angie.. I'm a 53-year old Chinese and drooping eyelids are my constant struggle too. However, I discovered something amazing today. I went to a skincare cosmetics shop today and the salesgirl recommended me to use eyelid stickers. Many Chinese girls who have single eyelids will stick them just above the lash line on the upper eyelid and it creates a temporary double eyelid. So, the salesgirl demonstrated these stickers on me but instead of just above the lashes, she placed them just above the crease of my eyelid and voila! I had an instant eye lift. I thought you might want to check out these eyelid stickers. They are very popular among Asians with single eyelids.

Hi Angie, I have a little trick for getting your Latisse to last longer. I use a 3ml bottle for about 6+ months. If you unscrew the lid, then put a drop of the solution into the lid, you can dip your brush into the lid and into the product, instead of dropping it onto the brush and potentially wasting some of the product that falls off. I treat mine like liquid gold. 😃 I love Latisse and I know that EXACT feeling you're talking about when it starts to work. Like little daggers stabbing your eyes. Ha ha.

I have found that Rapidlash worked for me. I actually measured my lashes every Sunday night while using Rapidlash and took weekly pics. It took 5-6 weeks before there was measurable growth on my teeny tiny lashes, but now my lashes are probably over twice as long as they used to be. I use it for my lower lashes and they went from "invisible" to "oh, they actually do exist." Ffor my first purchase I bought it at Ulta so I could take it back if it didn't work (I think Ulta had a 90-day return policy at the time). After that, I have repurchased multiple times at very discounted prices at drugstore dot com. Not sure how it works but it does work for me and on my lower lashes too.

The folks over on the Paula's Choice channel just did a video on Rapidlash and the like - they do not contain the active ingredient in Latisse, which is the only product that is FDA approved for growing lashes, and is only available by prescription. (They say Rapidlash used to have the ingredient but doesn't anymore because they cannot sell it OTC.) Suggest you check out the ingredients lists on the other products before switching, so you don't lose the progress you have made, unless you want to stop using Latisse anyway.

Rapid Lash was HORRIBLE for me. I got to use it twice before I felt like my eyes were more important than growing lashes. the first night i applied it, I woke up to a super bloodshot eye. It didn't really hurt but it was NOTICEABLY red. I thought that i might have gotten it in my eye. I applied it again the next night, and woke up to TWO bloodshot eyes and goop in my other eye... not a lot of goop but it was gross. Eyes were bloodshot the entire day. I stopped using it that night. and it took about 3 days for my eyes to return to normal. I now, just use Castor Oil.

The past couple years I started taking my my skin care up a few notches. In addition, I wear some makeup most days and try to stick with waterproof mascara. I remove it with makeup remover soaked Q-tips. At some point last year I noticed my lashes had become thicker. Using know why, but I'm happy about it. I don't know if the gentle rubbing with moisturizing makeup remover along my lash line has encouraged growth. I usually use Maybelline or Neutrogena brand removers.

I was going to route around it & send to friends to send to me just to get the deal (even though I’ve never tried the product) but then I saw a hack by a lash specialist showing how to avoids using these wasteful brushes altogether that wastes so much product. Using these Micro Swabs for Eyelash Extension, extends the use of a 3 mo bottle to almost a year (& she uses on her top & bottom lashes.) I’m sure you’ve seen the video by now. But I agree; the process is a giant P.I.T.A. I would prefer it come in a tube like Revitalash.

Other than not liking the cost, I'd like to keep it up as I'm so pleased with my results. I've skipped plenty of nights. I'm probably only getting it on every other night at this point.

Girl...use an eyeliner brush instead!! Those wonky brushes that come with the kit are horrible and waste more product than is used!! There is no "cross contamination" issues...you use the same makeup on both of your eyes, don't you?
@boysrus29 жыл бұрын
Amy Nelson Thanks so much for that great tip Amy! How do you clean the eyeliner brush between uses? Spray with alcohol perhaps?
@TheBchbunnie49 жыл бұрын
I just wash it with soap and water. My lids are the only lids it's coming into contact with so Its not an issue.

I have some alcohol in a travel spray bottle. I put a couple of drops of Careprost in the cap, apply with a retractable lip brush to my eyelids (top and bottom) and to my eyebrows. Then I spray the alcohol in the cap, swish the brush around in the cap, tap the cap on a kleenex, put the cap back on everything and I'm done. I have been using it for a year and a half after trying other products. I also get mine from alldaychemist. Best price I've found.

Hi Kathy! I know this post is 2 years old but can you please tell me which one you get from alldaychemist? There seem to be 3 options and I've no idea which one to get. Thanks :)

You always look great. I didn't notice your lashes but now that you show us before and after I can really tell. Yes, I would like to know more about Rapidlash and some of the others out there. I've tried a generic Latisse and another brand (can't remember the name) my eyes are pretty sensitive and didn't do well. Also, if you look on youtube there are videos on other homemade potions that involve Castor oil, Almond oil etc... that people also use and swear by. It's interesting. I would also like to know if you've whitened your teeth before, they look great. I'm looking for something to whiten my teeth as I love coffee that tends to cause havoc on my teeth.

I considered this product in the past, but with all the great false lash mascara's on the market I choose not to use such harsh chemicals. Have you ever considered Jamaican black castor oil? I got great results in two weeks and it lasts long after I stopped the nightly application.

Angie, a non eyelash question: do you ever get fever blisters/cold sores on your lips and if so how do you deal with them? Also, would you consider testing out the Derma Wand (or have you already)? I hate it when infomercials practically cast a spell on your credit card and pull it out of your wallet...LOL. As always, love your video!

Angie, I have been using Rapid Lash for a month and am very happy with it. I believe Nisha has used it also. It worked wonderfully for me ... and as an added bonus ....I used it on my eyebrows which were getting very thin. They are now to the point where I have had to actually pluck a few strays. I am only stating my experience with this product. Regardless of what some "Pro's" may say, I like it very much and will buy it again.

I had great success with Lil Lash. I worked at a spa that sold it, so I got it at cost. You have to use it every night for eight weeks, then once a week. My lashes got super long, almost too long. Once I stopped using it, my long lashes fell out and I was left with my short lashes. I liked it, I would purchase again, but I can't afford it right now. I have heard Merle Norman carry's Lil Lash.

Rapid Lash works amazing. And it's way cheaper. No pain no discoloration. At least that's my experience

You always look lovely. I love long lashes but am afraid to try this product. What I have begun using for mascara is Urban Decay Perversion which is awesome, a pain to remove at the end of the day, but well worth the effort.

Hi, I have tried Latisse too. It irritated my eyes also. But, I loose eyelashes and my eye Dr. recommended it. It does help my lashes stay in. I also use I regular tiny eyeliner brush and clean it after each use. My understanding after doing TONS of research os that if you have blue eyes (i.e. no brown pigment in your eyes) your eyes won't change color because they can't. The pigment isn't there. But, people like me with hazel or green eyes are the ones who a run a very small risk of color change because we do have brown pigment in our eyes. Of course, I am NOT a Dr. but that is what I was told and what my research discovered. So I am paranoid it will bring out the brown pigment in my hazel green eyes. LOL! So, I don't use it all the time.

I will be 46 this summer...I noticed my lashes getting a bit thin...I bought some castor oil and started putting that on them at night...it has been only two weeks and my goodness...they are longer, softer, thicker. Worth a try...most of those Rapidlash, Revitalash things have castor oil in them. It was super cheap too.

An old mascara wand or spoolie.

Hi Angie, love your videos! You mentioned contact lenses - what are you doing for reading vision? I wear contacts and right now am trying 'mono' vision. One eye for far away and the other for closer up - a bit annoying but getting used to it. Thanks!

I use Revitalash, it's works just the same and it doesn't require a prescription. My problem is any of these products make my eyelids red. I can cover it up with eyelid primer, but just wish I could use it without that side effect.

I used Latisse with great results BUT... had been using about 6 months- 1 year and developed the brown eyelids. Horribly noticeable and made me look like I had been crying all the time. I stopped the latisse but it took months to get rid of the brown color and actually they are still a little discolored but not as horribly. I'm looking for a decent alternative... think I might try the castor oil. Tried Rapid lash but don't really see any improvement in length or sparseness.

@Asraa Ali I saw a small difference in only two weeks, and now there’s a noticeable difference. I don’t have eyebrows really (from years of plucking) and they haven’t grown back in years- just to see what would happen, I applied it to one brow and saw more hair growth! It was noticeably thicker. Still not enough to call them eyebrows, though haha It lasts a long time. It’s been just over a year and I’m only halfway through my third bottle. There’s a coupon on goodrx!

@Liabad Biabad my physician prescribed it to me! I have no issues with my eyes at all. It is through glaucoma patients that it was discovered that this ingredient works to grow lashes. I go to a nurse practitioner but my dermatologist can write up the same prescription. It’s worth it for sure! No side effects at all for me.

@Liabad Biabad I just checked my box. It is a generic, so it says “bimatoprost opthalmic solution”. It is applied to the eyelids and comes with applicators. So my apologies- it’s not lumigen brand but it states “substituted for Latisse 0.03% Eyelash Solution”

Since you've stopped using Latisse, did you start using something else? If so how's it going? I'm using Latisse now and I'm enjoying the results, but if there's something cheaper, and effective, I'm in!

+Gina Le If you like Latisse but not the price tag, there's a generic option call Careprost for much less.

First off, don't use the applicators that come with Latisse - those are designed to waste product and they are scratchy. Your irritation probably came from the applicator not the product. I use the Sonja Kashuk flat eyeliner brush and I only use it for Latisse. Also, don't put the product directly on the applicator, put the drop in the lid and then dip your eyeliner brush in the lid. One drop will be plenty with this method - if the brush is still damp after application or you accidentally squeeze 2 drops, use the rest on your brows. Also when you think you are done, pop the dropper top off the bottle. Then dip your eyeliner brush into the bottle. It will give you 3 to 5 days more of the product.I order my Latisse and Retin A from an online pharmacy and order the generic Latisse (Carepost) and get 3 bottles of the Carepost and 1 Retin A for $65.I have never had any discoloration or irritation from the Latisse and I'm fair, red haired, and blue eyed.

Just wondering, in the thumbnail it looks like your after eye is more hooded? I thought this was supposed to reduce his hooded eyes by creating a chemical lift.Also would like to know if you have any ptosis or crepiness or fat loss. Thank you so much

Those brushes are scratchy. I put one drop in the cap and use an eyeliner brush to apply it. That way you have less irritation and use much less product on a daily basis so it last much longer.

Has anyone here used Grandelash MD?? It is Excellent. I wish I could show you what my once wimpy eyelashes look like now! My sweet hubby actually asked me today if I was wearing fake lashes:) It's usually bw $40-60 on Amazon (prime, too!). I tried Neulash (more expensive) and it burned, my lashes fell out quite a bit, and it didn't work at all for me after a full 3 mos of enduring it. I noticed Grandelash was really working bw the 8-10 week mark. I've been using it for almost a year now with some short breaks here and there.

I buy Careprost from inhousepharmacy.vu. No prescription needed. $34.50 for one bottle but I always buy three. The more you buy the bigger the discount and free shipping. I use an old eyeliner brush. One drop does upper and lower lashes and the outer brows which are sparse. My upper lids are reddish anyway so additional redness isn't noticeable. I always use concealer anyway so it's no big deal. After several months you can try using it every other day to maintain. I also get my Retin A and hydroquinone cream from the same place and have done for years. No Rx and cheaper than anywhere else.

I have traumatic glaucoma in my left eye. diagnosed 4 years ago and have used Travatan-Z drops. I use in both eyes though because it causes my lashes to get so long they touch my sunglasses. The idea for Latisse came from TravatanZ. Travatan Z is much much stronger and it does cause eyelid discoloration and it burns my eyes every night. I went several months and skipped it due to no insurance and shouldn't have as it delays blindness but anyway just restarted and in the first mont again and my lower lashes are noticeable longer and when I first started using them, a lady came up to me and asked me if my eyelashes were real. LOL Travatan z will darken the iris. I already had black eyes so that didn't matter. But it will dry out your cornea and the pain you experience I still do every day. But the alternative is a beta blocker and my doctor said Travatan was best.
