Yes, The Eagles are due credit for writing this melody and Stevie Ray Vaughan deserves credit for this playing style BUT without a doubt, you deserve a lot of credit for making this connection and executing the performance so well. Thank You.

@@MusicMotivator Of course ... not! To do it Hendrix style, at first step You'll want to install the strings in reverse order, and only this way You'd get Hendrix sound sharming, and next to get Hendrix style smell You'll need Zippo and gazoline can, but be careful!🤪

I'm not familiar with this player, but he sure is familiar with the Stevie Ray sound. I hear parts of Riviera Paradise, Lenny, and most every run SRV ever made. I will admit to having become resolved that there would/will never be another gunslinger to ever take a place beside him on the all-time list of great players. Never will he be replaced or supplanted, but now I see he could be very well imitated. Thanks for the respite from the despair of his loss. It has been 34 years since I cried upon hearing the news of the crash, and the years have not blamed the pain I felt that day.

Stevie's signature sound that people have been trying for years to replicate was such a unique sound for so many reasons...the fact that he used heavy guage strings for the three highest strings, his tuning, and he was very heavy-handed when picking and fretting. Those all came together in a formula which noone could reproduce accurately....until now! I clicked on this thumbnail and title thinking it was just gonna be another one of those "I ruined it" AI-generated "if so and so did this song" videos, and to see someone actually playing and being able to instantly recognize the unmistakeable tone and cadence of Stevie left me completely spellbound. You have (currently!) 15 likes on a comment that has left me baffled. Is it me, failing to grasp the concept that these 15 others not only understood, but gave you a nod of appreciation for? Or is it all 16 of you, asleep at the wheel? You do get that this is not SRV, right? Is this a grammatical issue, and what you meant was either "covers OF SRV songs" or "covers of songs BY SRV?" That's still misleading, because this wasn't his song. You'd've had to say "covers of songs that SRV covered" - and we've gotten well away from being able to fix your statement by simply replacing a "by" with an "of". And that's still essentially wrong, cuz I don't think Stevie ever covered Hotel CA, but I could be wrong about that. I will not be holding my breath waiting for your reply. But I do hope you will clear this up.
@DanielEckert63

@@JamesThompson-zk1ht You are correct - the grammar is terrible. However, the spirit of the note was interpreted correctly. When someone interprets a non-SRV song as if SRV covered it and does such an excellent job that it really sounds like SRV wrote it, it is magical. And those who like it are individuals who don’t need perfect grammar to see that magic.

I saw Stevie twice. First was in Salem MA at an outdoor show on a wet night. He was still doing the trio with “Whipper” and Tommy Shannon, 1984. He looked pretty trashed but played like a house afire. At one point he sat on the edge of the stage and began playing Little Wing and all those beautiful Hendrix-y chord things he did. He couldn’t get up. Two roadies came out, one on either side, picked him up while he was still playing, and placed him at his mic. He broke into Voodoo Child without missing a beat. The next time I saw him he’d sobered up and had Reese Wynans on keys. That was at the time In Step released. He was even better when sober-much better, in fact. What a tragedy, losing Stevie. He was an other worldly player and performer. RIP, SRV. We miss you.

Saw him in Indy one year and I got so drunk but I knew that if he came back around I would be completely sober to FULLY appreciate it. He did and I was! Man 'riviera paradise' was just absolutely amazing! He sat on the edge of the stage and it was 10 minutes of just music echoing through the night! I knew I had made the right decision. Just incredible!!

Why am I able to hear Vaughn sing this in my head?.....
@jannekotisalo
@jannekotisalo 9 ай бұрын
I think so Vaughan's guitar and vocals are like one, because both sing and form a truly wonderful whole. You can listen to both without the other, and Vaughan's guitar playing style has in a way formed its own blues genre. So this is just my view of how I perceive the maestro's way of making music. Maybe this is the answer to your question. 🤔🤷🏻‍♂️😊

Lord you are good. I’m thinking of Stevie, Joe Walsh and Don Felder right now. Thank you for posting this. The Eagles are my favorite band ever. I saw them in New Orleans in 1994. I never got to see SRV. I think this is exactly how he would play it. I remember when he died. I was in the lobby of the law school I attended. I was the only one who knew who he was. The TV was on CNN back in the early 90s it was a trusted news source. I was dumbfounded that no one knew who he was. I said only one of the most talented guitarists ever.

Thank you Algorithm! Cant believe I haven’t come across your channel before, subbed instantly! Your musicianship is phenomenal but your creativity to come up with so many hybrid songs is off the charts. I started out playing around Texas in the late 70s and early 80s. Many players knew about Stevie but never thought the stars could align where he’d become a superstar. I knew a 60s burn out friend that hunted down Hendrix bootleg tapes for him. Blues man for sure but he studied anything Hendrix had ever recorded.
