Hotel Maya Room 4109 Review

Hi there, everyone!
My husband, Chris, sustained a C5 incomplete spinal cord injury in May 2020. It has been a long journey up to this point, but he has made great progress on the road to recovery. Currently, he uses a slide board for transferring out of his powerchair, and also utilizes a rolling travel shower chair to make his bathroom regiment and showering a much easier task while away from home.
We decided 2022 was going to be the year we started traveling again, which was a little scary to get back into. One of the things we found scariest - not being able to see all the room details when booking an ADA accessible room. These rooms certainly are not created equally. Some places seem to have added just enough to call themselves ADA accessible. And even when you talk with the motel/hotel staff, they don't always know the details we caregivers or wheelchair users want to know. So much goes into planning a trip when you are traveling with disabilities, and it is frustrating when you don't find what you are looking for.
So we started documenting the rooms we stay in and give you our honest opinion of the accessibility and features. We figure if we take just a few moments to share these details with you, maybe we can help another family like ours to get out and enjoy themselves.
In this video, we review Hotel Maya's ADA room 4109 with roll in shower accessibility. The room features a queen size bed (2 twins) with plenty of space to maneuver around the room and bathroom. We were very pleased with the overall wheelchair accessibility of this room and property, and definitely recommend this room to wheelchair users traveling in Long Beach, California.
