This guy cracks me up. That whole place is contrived. Don’t get me wrong, i love extravagance. But anything fancy on Kauai is contrived, the soul of kauai says so. But anyway i hope to stay here and experience at least one night before i leave this place that i have called home for over 40 years. I hope it does not disappoint.

Having been to the St Regis in Hanalei a few times previously, these “upgrades” look like they’ve put a veneer of “eco” on top of what was already there. That sand on the floor boards is hokey AF. Kaua’i is full of natural beauty, this just feels a little tacky.

Agreed. Stayed there when it the Princeville Resort and watched as the St. Regis and now 1 Hotel Hanalei Bay kill the Hawaiian vibes over the change in ownerships. This may be the reason, they are having trouble keeping it filled. This guy is too much into his own vision and must be pain to work for.
