very well done video lots of detailed close-up frames. It is a winding drum machine which was very common in the early 1900's this particular elevator is not counter-weighted ends of the hoist ropes attached to the hitch plate then over guide sheaves, back down and wound around the drum. Near my old job there was an office building which had a 1906 Otis Winding drum elevator, other than needing a motor overhaul after up/down for 89 years keeps on going.

(2) 06:25 - can't believe the car moves with the doors open, ESPECIALLY with no lift frame! Unbelieveable!! 02:32/02:36 - noise of door locks as the lift travels past. Or could be roller switches. EXCELLENT video and would love to check out this lift for myself! It would be shut down in the UK for safety (especially with no car door switch!!) but I love it!!

this is cool. In Germany this rule exists since 1972. Adding folding inner doors is almost done! Only a few elevator have got no inner doors but only, because they are allowed for as they are not for the public (like in monastery buildings or service lifts). But then these elevators have been changed to be locked off - so they require a key.

(1)WOW what a video and what a lift! 00:17 - thanks for showing this. Two cables to lift car, two cables to....uhhhh, where is the counterweight? :D 01:10 - The lift is travelling with the door open!!! OMG!! How dangerous is that, omg! 03:30 what happens if the lift fails to stop at the top level...omg! 04:15 - AGGHHH I know some people who would feel dizzy watching that at full HD! haha! 04:50 - under-car emergency brakes (cont2>>>)

If you look at 6:29 the inner door has a switch and the light does come on when the door is opened, maybe it can move with it open if its call from another floor (if people forgot to close the door when they have done and the lift wouldn't be able to move)

@robert3302 Yes! But not always!

Unfortunately, those ugly interior doors are also in Switzerland. In Zurich and Geneva are already rules! But it will take a long time until all the elevators are converted!

@mrmattandmrchay It would even be possible with an open door ride! I did not do it because I was being watched by the reception! These are the rolling noise of the lock. They look the video ( Funny elevator and funny music )

I love it too :), it's rare, old and runs better than a brand new OTIS GeN2 or a new Ecodisc. :D:D:D

...to experience in Germany. Many crappy folding inner doors even on the most beautiful elevators from the 50's :-(
