Ditto! Albert The Reindeer is my usual travel buddy.. But he can become a little bit travel sick, so I make sure to bring a small emergency travel pack for him, to ensure he’s as comfortable as possible! 😀👍🏻

The pillow case is a really good idea, I'll keep that in mind.

The pillow case and my safe item (stuffed Pikachu) were GAME CHANGERS on my last trip. For me, it's less about laying my head where someone else has and more the fact that I have sensory issues with the texture of most fabrics used as sheets and pillow cases so I need to bring my own pillow case and I also bring a soft blanket in case the sheets are super uncomfortable for me to the point where I can't sleep under them.

I live in a home for mentally ill teens/ young adults (we have caretakers with us 24/7) and we have a mandatory holiday every year. They're always so so hard for me because of all of my disorders. But since last time I got diagnosed with inattentive ADHD, and have been and am still learning lots about how it affects me and how I can accommodate myself so I can preserve a bit more of my energy. So maybe the next trip will be a bit easier. I am still searching for answers and coping strategies. So I'm really really grateful for your videos, Zara ♡ you rock!

That was super helpful. Traveling is so stressful for me and if I have to do it alone it’s so much worse. I will have an autistic meltdown or shutdown if things go sideways even a little. The problem is I also have adhd and I hate packing so I will then procrastinate it until the last minute and inevitably forget something I was intending on bringing. But a list is a good idea and even just having specific things you always take in the same place so you can easily add it to the packing is such a great idea! Thank you!!! Still even with all the things pre planed and ready it is just so much stress to travel. I wish I could just go places instantly and not ever have to be in a car, bus, train, or plane! lol. That would be lovely!!

Great video, thank you. My ND hotel self care pack list is my plushie, blanket, big cardigan that I can wear as a dressing gown, sleep mask and ear plugs. I always ask for extra pillows when I check in. I totally agree on the relative comfort that comes from always choosing a Travelodge or premier inn.

The packing list REALLY helps not just with making sure you have everything, but also making sure you bring everything back home and don’t forget things at the hotel. I learned that the hard way :,)

Glad you enjoyed the TikTok event! It’s good to be acknowledged for your accomplishments & party at the same time ✨ I recently had a hotel stay at a Premier Inn. Overall it went very well. I had a 2 hours train journey each way, door to door. Not surprisingly I was tired when I returned home but I’d already scheduled chill recovery time & starting to get back on track! It feels really good to travel. I’ve had to work on my confidence that I’ll be able to cope OK being away. I totally agree with the planning around hotel stays & also making sure I don’t leave anything behind in the hotel room once I’ve left!!! Yes, it’s happened 😂

Oh I HAVE to bring my stuffed monkeys and listen to music to get to sleep. I had a meltdown the last time I traveled because I couldn't bring my pillow so I'm definitely gonna be trying the bringing my pillow case thing. I'm working on unmasking around other people (including my family) so maybe our family trip this year will be easier on me because of it! It's hard and I think my mom's starting to understand more than the rest of my family but we make do.

I slept in my car a couple of times (really comfy) or I try to book the same rooms in hotels. Every time I go on vacation, it feels like I'm moving 😂. For the pillow-thing: I travel with a silk scarf. I love the fabric and I cover the pillow with it (also at home). I always have to block the little red or green lights on tv etc. They drive me crazy. And If it's not really dark in the room, I have to block the light (with a bedsheet or so). Yes, I'm autistic, too 😂😂😂

You don’t want to go abroad they eat funny food and talk funny [Sarcasm generator off]. No go for it when you feel you’re in the right place. Maybe try going to somewhere like Lille in France for a day trip as a first. Then maybe somewhere like the Netherlands maybe Utrecht (basically it’s Amsterdam without the tourists).

Plastic wrap, on books...? US hotels are definitely better as per that each company's hotels have some differences. Do hotels there not have staff that pulls the bedding, puts on clean and launders the previously used bedding?

Take headphones when going on a plane. It's noisy, crowded, busy and stressful
@hannahk1306

Personally, I prefer to get the train if I can. It's more expensive and takes longer, but it's much less stressful than flying and better for the environment. I live in the UK and I've gone as far as Southern Switzerland and Germany by train (separate trips) and considering Scandinavia and Spain as a possible future trips. I'd definitely recommend stopping over en route to break up the journey and reduce stress about making connections (pick somewhere to stay near the relevant train stations) - you also get to see a bonus place or two. On our last trip, we had lunch in Amsterdam and on a previous one we had a couple of days in Paris.

@hannahk1306 unfortunately. We like going to Finland to do wild bear watching. Trains don't go to Finland. Or Spain. Or any other holiday destination that isn't France or Germany, I think. Don't quote me on that, though
