As a frequent traveler we have run into so many stories! We once booked a room, checked into our hotel only to find someone’s things all over the room already! So glad we didn’t walk into anything erm, strange we’ll say lol 😂

Ha! That's my worst nightmare. So many good/crazy stories come from being a hotelier. Thx for the comment Erin!

This is interesting because, I went to book a hotel directly and the price was about $300 a night for even the most basic room but for the exact same hotel through Expedia it was 60% less... how is that even possible?

Why are hotels funneling me into using travel sites by refusing me a good walk in price even after i ask?

The hotel I want is sold out but Expedia and Bookings have it available so this is the case to use these sites!

Wondering is it true that on Friday or weekend it’s cheaper to book on expedia

Why can't I cancel hotel reservation with Expedia? They're jerking me around. Can't talk to a real person, just virtual agent.

So if a hotel is $99 a night & I’ll tell them I saw a price at the same hotel for $53, they’ll give it to me for that price?

Travel sites can be such an incredible tool for finding hotels but not necessarily for booking them.

Too much misinformation in this video. Booking Holdings ( not BDC ) and Expedia do not own ALL of the best known sites. When cancelling a booking, the policy stated on the OTAs sites is the one stuck to. You may contact the hotel to overturn the policy, to which the hotel can agree or decline. For changing dates, again in some sites you can do this if the amount of nights and room rate remain the same on the new required dates. You may also ask the hotel to adjust the dates on the same basis. Larger hotels or chains are less likely to accept direct bookings on the phone or in person due to not trusting their staff. Smaller independent hotels are far more willing to "share" the saving on not paying commission with the guest. When it comes to disputes between the hotel and the guest, the OTA will usually side with the guest. DO also check the reputation of the OTA before you part with your money. Truspilot and Hello Peter are just two of the platforms you where you do this. You might be surprised at which one, in particular, has a stinking reputation!!!

@@ManuelaSeven although your comments are logical and your own experience backs them up, you can see from other comments here that you are wrong in real world terms.
