Hotshot Shootout at Jackson Motor Speedway / The RAIN won the MONEY!

We got rained out at our home track Outlaw Speedway so we made the late decision to enter the hotshot shootout race at Jackson Motor Speedway. We have never been to this track and didn't have anywhere else to race so we made the 3.5 hour drive north to see if we could stack up again some of the best SCDRA cars in the south. Things were looking good until all of a sudden a flash storm showed up and change everyone's plans. This caused a lot of confusion among the drivers because it was so early in the night and the track rained out. We wanted to do everything we could to race but it just didn't happen. We hate we didn't get to race and the tempers go elevated BUT its just because we are passionate about this sport. In the end after all the frustration the track did MAKE THIS RIGHT! We appreciate them fror clarifying the pay situation. We by no means what to bash a track and never did we just didn't understand in the heat of the moment. We will support this track again! Sucks you guys didn’t get to race. I would say you guys expectations/feelings on the situation were reasonable, fair and warranted. You guys weren’t just looking out for yourselves but for the entire field. As always unselfish and just caring good nature folks. That’s why we love you guys.

That is unfortunate. This past weekend Southern got a small shower an hr or so before opening gates. THEN, got a 25 min mist after opening. Not to mention all the rain throughout the week. Now, I'm just a regular spectator but the track looked tacky after the rain. BUT, still workable. Cars were called to come help pack the track & boy was it slick Lol and (no offense) but the small tires on the stinger cars was just making it worse. So, Mr Tom made the decision to clip it down a few inches & repack. Turned out to be an awesome night of racing !! Missed you all. Hope to see ya'll again soon. Very happy Jackson made things right for ya'll. Keep diggin !!

I've never owned a race track before but it seems to me that the track should have been packed to shed the water then worked up after the rain to both mix in dry soil from underneath and increase drying surface area. Then packed again after it dried out. They do this in tractor pulling all the time.

You are correct sir. That’s exactly how it works with these track too. Only problem is the track wasn’t packed before the rain came

What I have always known is that the track officials talk with the drivers and if the majority of the field agrees they racing. Plain as day they just wanted the entry money and don't have to pay. That's sh*tty. Clay from mobile Alabama
