This is one of the best fantasy dramas I have seen, and I love it that each of the characters had some closure with people close to them, such as Liu Huan and his daughter, Ruo Yu getting revenge, Raku giving Bailing poisoned wine, Si Feng marrying Xuan Yi, etc. Thank heavens we were not left with any cliffhangers at the end.

To those who think the Jade emperor should have intervened much earlier, I think if the Jade Emperor had really punished Bailing right after he had won the war, Bailing would never have changed his ways. He would still have insisted he had been justified for his action because he would think he succeeded in preserving the 3 realms. It is the current havoc and consequences of his one wrong act that finally caused him to FULLY realise just how wrong he had been. The Jade Emperor’s aim is for individuals to come to their own conclusion and decision that revenge does not resolve past wrongs, and that violation in the name of righteousness is not justifiable. Since an individual goes into cycles of the wheel of life in this world, death and punishment is not as valuable or effective as discovering enlightenment, love and redemption.

punishing bai ling would do nothing because he was beyond redemption. lou hou ji du would never ever let go of his grudge, which was why jade emperor said, "what will come, will come." as for bai ling going to the mortal realm, remember that bai ling hid his presence on earth and had si ming fooled everyone in heaven from knowing that he left the realm. him having the power to see the various timelines most likely doesn't let him know which timeline would come true.

@@RoseNZieg The Jade Emperor let the God of War go to the mortal realm to do the 10 tribulations because the heavens had wronged her. If Bailing had gotten kicked out of heaven when The Jade Emperor let the God of War and Sifeng fall from grace then the 10th tribulation would've been a piece of cake for Xuan Ji and Sifeng. There would be no Lou Hou Ji Du to deal with because Xuanji would've been able to go back to heaven as the God of War once she and Sifeng lived out their 10th lifetime successfully. Killing Lou Hou Ji Du, turning him into the God of War, taking away her 6 senses, using her to wipe out both good and bad demons, and then trying to unjustly kill her should've gotten Bailing kicked out of heaven and straight into hell for all eternity. The sheer abuse of power on Bailing's part was ridiculous.
