I actually dislike how magicians fool their audience. A correctly sized straitjacket (with the standard posey security features) is very secure, if it's applied correctly. You can still escape from that, if you use the furniture in your room to your advantage (like threading something pointy through the arm buckle behind your back, a mirror helps), but on your own it's nearly impossible. The straitjacket used in this clip was a posey straitjacket. Those are one of the top quality straitjackets: thick, sturdy, durable and equipped with security features which are missing at most magician straitjacket models. I'm talking about the arm loops. If you watch closely, you can spot those loops in the video. One big loop is in the front and two smaller ones are below the armpits. The arms are meant to be threaded through those loops. It makes lifting the arms impossible as long as the arm buckle is closed. But most of the magician are using exactly this escaping technique. And everyone in the audience is like: "oh my god, he did the impossible!"... meh. It's just because they don't know what's important for a straitjacket to be escape proof. Being suspended actually makes an escape easier, because gravity helps pulling the arm buckle above your head. It would take considerably more work to do that while standing upright. The arm strap often tangles up with the back buckles. Another, less frequent way of escaping a straitjacket is by pulling the whole jacket above the head. That's why the jackets are equipped with a crotch strap. At least that was used in the video. There's also the trick to pinch the sleeves with the hands, while the magician is being strapped in. That way, it's possible to gain enough slack once they are buckled up. It might even be enough to reach the arm buckle that's supposed to be on the wearer's back, even when the arms are threaded through the arm loops. If you show me someone escaping from a tightly buckled, real straitjacket, taking the arm loops and crotch strap into account and not relying on dirty tricks to gain slack, I'm seriously impressed. THAT would be someting, I would applaud to. Sorry for ranting, I just had to say that after seeing that trick for the millionth time... And if you read that entirely, you'll probably see the next straitjacket escape with different eyes. Despite that, the video was actually well done. It's actually kind of cute how the host showed participation by letting herself being strapped into another straitjacket. *TL;DR* To be escape proof a straitjacket needs to be tight, using the arm loops and the crotch strap. Still, nice video.

You basically wrote what I was going to write. This just like every other "Escape" video. They don't secure it properly/correctly just to make the escape possible. If it was done correctly it would be almost impossible. You know it and I know it because we've both actually been in one when it's done right. Only those who have been in one or trained on them would know when it's done correctly. I hate these fake AF so called escape videos. It just ruins it for me. They should get us to fasten it. That would really mess up their act.

Well, since it wasn't fastened correctly then she could have got out any time she wanted to. This video is fake AF! I should know, I have six of them.
