I am getting a bit better result if I remesh the grid (0.05 target size and 10 meshing iterations) after the group by range node but using the top raw of the old grid as hard edges group so the point order doesn't get messed up. Since cloth sims work better with triangles, you get a smoother surface and you get a nice flat line instead of the sharp spikes where the points are pinned. Thank you for sharing your knowledge with us, cheers!

Very nice and simple! How would I make the final frame you show the resting state at frame 1?
@DimaShishkov4 жыл бұрын
Thank you. Glad you found it useful. There are several ways. You can export the final frame as a mesh, import it back into Houdini and use it as a base for another Vellum simulation. Or you could append a Null at the end, let it simulate til frame you want and freeze the Null. This way it will stay in this state no matter what changes you make in the nodes that come before it. And then again create another Vellum setup, using this null as a source.

Dima Shishkov ahh okay thank you I’ll try that later today. Can’t wait to see your other videos. Most others are really long but sometimes I just want a new quick thing to learn :) thank you

Finally find video on youtube how to animate vellum constraint, I watch so many tutorials and they all just pin groups not showing how to actually animate it. Is this only way to do it with adding new transform node and animate there? Could you animate first transform node, will that work? Anyway, thank you very much. I subscribed and liked 🍻
@DimaShishkov3 жыл бұрын
Thanks a lot and I am glad you found it useful. As always, especially in Houdini, there are several ways to do what you need. The way that I showed is the simplest one I know. Animating the first transform want work, because Vellum reads that input only on the first frame, so any updates to that node after frame 1 won't have any effect.

Hey there. To set keyframes in Houdini, you Alt/Option click on a parameter.
