Hi Nick, great tutorial btw! I was just wondering, do you happen to know which tutorial you used on the CGWiki that helped you to understand how to do the curved particles? I would like to understand it in more detail but couldn't find it on the CGWiki page.

Hi Nick, first of all Thank you for your tutorials. They are really great and informative. However I have a question regarding the pyrosolver at 5:35. Could you please share your settings for Shape, Look and Export? That would be really helpful and nice of you. Thank you and keep up the great work.

Hi, quick question. Could you not have just got the lines by adding a trail sop after the popnet - then do the add after that using your pt_id ? I only ask because I saw that trick in a Rohan Dalvi tutorial. Not sure if will have exactly the same look but without trying it but seems like the same sort of thing.

Hey Nick! I am running into issues with the pyro set up of this. I have followed everything and even tried it in a new project file. After the initial velocity from the point vel node is used in the pyro sim I am getting a very standard push up and then plumes towards the mid-top. What did I do wrong? I have checked the video over and over and my settings are the same as yours.
@nickmedukha2 жыл бұрын
Hey Devansh! Rough guess would be - Are you rasterizing v in the volumerasterize? It sounds like the velocity hasnt passed to the solver there
@yanagiya_rei99252 жыл бұрын
Perhaps Nick has turned off Buoyancy in the shape tab of pyro solver.
@johnlikesdrawing2 жыл бұрын
In the pyro solver under shape play around with the gravity and gravity direction. I was scratching my head at the same thing. But i think that might solve it, but am a houdini noob so someone might have a better answer.

any good way to bring these into c4d/octane for rendering? with attributes too?
@nickmedukha2 жыл бұрын
Nope, thats why Im rendering it in Houdini. To bring attributes you will need to convert these to polygons, which will likely result in Octane crashing. I was a huge fan of transferring .abc to C4d/Octane, but for some setups it just does not work, or works extremely weird/slow

Can anyone help with adjusting the Time Scale on the simulation? When I make a slow motion simulation in the pyro sim then the popnet goes crazy and makes a huge mess. What would I need to do to make this slow motion?
@nickmedukha2 жыл бұрын
In the end of the chain, add a timewarp node and set a speed. Don't forget to checkbox interpolation :)
@aaronversiontwo49952 жыл бұрын
@@nickmedukha I just tried this and I get a very jittery mess. I was certain it would be some setting in the popnet that i may have missed. Are you sure a timewarp node is the best way?
@aaronversiontwo49952 жыл бұрын
Okay so I found that adjusting the Time Scale in the Pyro Solver and then adjusting the Velocity Scale in the popadvectbyvolume node seems to work.
@aaronversiontwo49952 жыл бұрын
Wait, no it doesn't the wires still go pretty fast just the pyro simulation is slow. I love hate houdini. The Interpolate between input frames on the timewarp node is causing the jitter and I have no idea how to fix it.
@tomroohan Жыл бұрын
What you can do is turn off the sopsolver in the popnet and then add a retime node after the popnet. Then use trails sop. It gives you a similar look.

@@nickmedukha cool yeah I would be a bit more upfront with what versions of houdini you are using and if you know if its a new feature in the software etc. I cant see it in your screen record. Thanks so much for doing these.

What version of houdini is this?
@aaronversiontwo49952 жыл бұрын
Judging by all the extra attributes in the solver this is v19... So if you are using 18.5 still you might need to modify a few things.

туториалы все лучше, Октан к стати и в гудини работает хорошо. Хотя для таких вот мошн дизов то Houdini Karma XPU уже вполне подходит
@nickmedukha2 жыл бұрын
Спасибо! Октан тестил - согласен, но с редшифтом охват больше, всетаки он популярней для гудини. А вот карма - очень интересно, но елки палки туда нужно времени ввалить чтоб понять :D
@WPSoul2 жыл бұрын
@aaronversiontwo49952 жыл бұрын
Another downside to this tutorial.. You can only get the render look in the video IF you have Redshift. Rendering in mantra gives you big thick pasta like polygons.
@nickmedukha2 жыл бұрын
Just google "Rendering Lines in Mantra", first search result link, sidefx forum. This tutorial specifically says - Houdini & Redshift.
