Honkai impact was meant to be a direct continuation of Houkai Gakuen, many years ago but they ended up becoming "different" games because of houkai gakuen having too many story holes or something however the games are connected by a mihoyo multiverse created by the imaginary tree that was shown in Honkai impact, in this multiverse are the main games that are Houkai Gakuen, Honkai impact 3, genhsin impact and honkai star rail it was the shortest I could say but that's not all there are many things to be informed

In a nutshell, Honkai Impact 3rd is, as it's name suggests, the 3rd world. The MOTHs/Flame Chasers (Kevin, Elysia, etc.) are from the 2nd world. Honkai Gakuen was originally the 1st world, but it got retconned because too many plotholes, but the overarching plot is still the same. And then there's the 0th world, the actual first world, the original world that no one (in lore) knows about because it's history was completely wiped out compared to the 1st and 2nd worlds, and that's where the world where Jhana hails from. This 0th world was a DLC for Honkai Gakuen but it got shutdown for reasons I do not know.
