Houry Gebeshian was the first gymnast to compete for Armenia at the 2016 Olympic Games. As her parents had emigrated to the USA, Gebeshian already competed in the US national championships but failed to qualify for the 2012 Summer Games in London.
Despite her full-time job as a medical assistant, she did not give up her ambitions of competing in the Olympics and finally made it to the 2016 Summer Games. Even though she did not win a medal, she was more than happy when she was finally able to fulfil her dream!
