In baptism the Holy Spirit baptizes us into Christ Jesus body using other believers 1 Corinthians 12:13 Acts 2:38. . In the Lords Supper the Lord Jesus prepares His table for us with Passover bread and wine Luke 22:14-20. The Lord Jesus blesses the Passover bread and wine. There is only one perfect sacrifice forevermore and only one continuous celebration Supper until Jesus returns to the mount of Olives near Jerusalem Zechariah 14:4. So participate in Jesus body and blood daily and receive all His benefits: health and protection.

Love the talk about the mission of the church, the passion for evangelism and discipleship! With all respect, disagree on the point of the Holy Spirit being received separately from the moment when we are saved by faith. The Bible expressly says that those who believe in Jesus have already received the Holy Spirit. There are no exceptions to this. Furthermore, those who are without the Holy Spirit are considered unbelievers. The contrast between the two groups is clear: those with the Holy Spirit are Christians those without are non-Christians.

Baptism of the Holy Spirit is a sovereign, single, unrepeatable act on God’s part, and is no more an experience than are its companions justification and adoption. Although some wrongly view the baptism with the Spirit as the initiation into the ranks of the spiritual elite, nothing could be further from the truth. There is no command in Scripture to be baptized with the Spirit. However, you are not in the flesh but in the Spirit, if indeed the Spirit of God dwells in you. But if anyone does not have the Spirit of Christ, he does not belong to Him (Rom 8:15) So here I understand if you don't have the Holy Spirit in you, you don't belong to Christ, which means you are not a believer. Because you are sons, God has sent forth the Spirit of His Son into our hearts, crying, “Abba! Father!” (Gal 4:6) When do we become sons of God? When we put our trust in Jesus as our Lord and Savior, so God gives us His Spirit into our hearts at that moment.

To lay that responsibility on common believers, proposing that that is the central purpose in the life of a believer is wrong, especially when the apostles did not write or teach that. My home church here in Florida has been the greatest blessing I have ever received. My pastor delivered me from demonic oppression. I had six demons that had been oppressing me, some since I was a very little child! I was filled with the Holy Spirit, and I am born again!! They have completely changed my life!! I live for the Lord now and it’s an amazing wonderful, loving family!! We are very close! We are focused on the scripture, and so many churches have drifted away from that. Yikes! Their church sounds extremely legalistic. Where is the love for one another, the tender-heartedness, the restoring with a gentle spirit? Love goes a long way to restoring the faith of one who has been hurt and used by the traditional church system. Filling that person with love and acceptance is first and foremost toward their healing, which enables them to grow in trust, and move on to obedience. If I entered their church and heard all this repentance and obedience stuff, I'd run out the door!! People have been devastated by the lack of love and opportunity to use their gifts within the church -- they're empty and distrustful and crying out for love and care, and healing and restoration needs to happen before they can even BEGIN to move toward anything required of them. So sorry I clicked on this video, as it triggered so much pain for me!

You have to understand the concept of church to appreciate their message. The church is not a building. It is a community of believers. Whenever believers congregate, they become the church. This relationship continues even after they have dispersed because the community is eternal in Christ. What you are used to is the church as an institution, a building or a location. This is so encouraging. I've been working at this in my free time like a hobby from a church movement that began this way but then went to buildings and mega churches in the mouse announce shutting down because they lost their way. Many are going back to house churches. In the last 15 years I've been I've been in every household on my block pretty much and had dinner with and done the Friendship evangelism approach over 15 years but no salvations. Been at this for 40 years starting at University of Maryland in Washington DC where we grew from 30 students to 180 in 6 months I moved to Towson Maryland to start another one where we grew from 14 team members to about 200. Moved on to Virginia began the same path when the church that had movement decided to go buildings and mega churches because that's what Willow Creek was doing and they were tired of working full-time jobs and shepherding people. It could be called the Great deception instead of the Great Commission work workers like myself and pastors and team members want to have the Big Show and a sage on the stage and all want to be that guy and be paid to do it. The apostles were the offscouring of the Earth no prominence like some are given today. Trying again at last getting after it whether it's fruitlessness of Jeremiah or Apostle Paul fruitfulness, I get to do this with Jesus and His Holy Spirit, my wife, a few friends and mostly the fun of joining God and His calling for men and women to Proclaim him and make disciples

I love that you're leaving the institutional church. However, you are making a grave mistake by teaching people they need to obey Jesus. You are basically teaching people to follow the law. Jesus, during his early ministry, wasnt teaching us gentiles how to live. Jesus was born under the law and was teaching Jews that it's impossible to obey the law, so there's no point trying. He was teaching before the cross to Jews, not you. Our doctrine comes from the risen Lord, teaching Paul, the apostle to the gentiles. Are you following Jesus teaching? Go test Mat 5 and tell me your are even coming close. If you think you are, you are a fool and a hypocrite. The only answer is let's Christ live in is. Trying to obey is from the flesh. The issue with church is that it's still structurally aligned with the first church, the Roman catholic church in AD381. Jesus called his people to be a Christian ekklesia which is almost the opposite to a church in almost every way.

The first church did not have a name! Believers met under one umbrella- Jesus Christ. This was until the 4th century when Emperor Constantine "converted" from paganism to Christianity and made it a state religion. This was the "birthday" of Roman Catholicism.

Churches today follow the Roman Catholic church structure of a man at the top with a vision and a title with a board of elders supporting it and a congregation at the bottom providing the resources. How are disagreements over doctrine handled in any given house church? Who gets the authority to decide what scripture teaches on any given topic? How does this not lead to more and more schisms, sects, break away groups, etc.? Should there be a teaching authority ordained by Jesus Christ? Would Jesus leave his Church a teaching authority to have the final say in matters of doctrine and teaching?

Women can teach women but I think there are some limitations as to what i can set out to do. Maybe my perspective is off.

teri smith Hey, Terri! Good to read your comments. I’m being led in the house church direction, but it’s kind of problematic for me also, since my husband isn’t yet a believer. I think the family comparison is so important. In other words the ideal family (and forgive me, I mean no offense to your single mom status) has two, the dad to guide and the mom to nurture. So, I’m inclined to think that a house church ideal would be the same, in effect a guiding, nurturing couple. I’m gonna continue to pray for God’s guidance. I believe He will lead me to a solid couple that I can join with and contribute my own gifts. And of course, I’ll be praying for this cell (house church) multiplication like Christ intended. What is the longer term strategy for winding-down TLR and just let Jesus build his church? Will TLR become another institution?

They described people starting groups now that have no direct connection to them, and Torben has even less connection to them. Nothing I heard in this video caused me any concerns regarding an institution being formed. They talked about doing what the Bible says and listening to the Holy Spirit, and those both sound like pretty good principles to me.

@@dagman85 For some time I have been concerned about the institutionalization of the church - that is what attracted me to TLR. At the present, TLR functions like a training center but it could easily morph into an institution (this could become a multi-level marketing-like institution). Too many people get their eyes on a charismatic leader rather than looking to Jesus as their head. I think once people are functioning with Jesus as the head they need to "decouple" from TLR and youtube and every other source of input and rely on scripture and the Holy Spirit for leading. To me that should be the goal of every true discipler - which was mentioned in the video. People have such a hard time with an invisible leader!

@@bobthrasher8226 - I have no problem with an invisible leader, but I think that God wants us living in families of many different sizes. That includes having people who can speak into our life. Paul makes this very clear when talking about the correction that he brought to Peter, of all people, in Galatians 2:11-14. If correction is on the table, then other forms of input should be, too. I agree with you that our goal should be to be guided primarily by the Holy Spirit, but I don't think that looks like isolation, and sometimes God will want to speak to us through other people. None of us has the complete package, and we need each other. Other people present different aspects of the image of God than I do, and without them my representation of Him will be incomplete or possibly imbalanced.

@@dagman85 I think we're pretty much on the same wavelength. From my experience in the institutional church our eyeballs get glued to the preacher and not so much on "one other". We tend to think the preacher is the conduit to God's revelation. I think God intended revelation to come personally and in the environment of "family" and not from workers in an orphanage.

What exactly do you want? Why is the truth offensive to you? The early apostles and disciples received the pattern of Jesus' church from Him directly through the Holy Spirit. Just because Empower Constantine came in and polluted this order, should we continue to promote the perversion? Why don't you pray about it and ask Jesus for guidance instead of condemning the truth?
