House Karstark of Karhold - Game Of Thrones / House Of The Dragon History And Lore

House Karstark is a old and well-connected house in the North of Westeros. Their blood ties them back to House Stark of Winterfell, the old kings of winter. They remain the last cadet branch of House Stark after the Greystarks were wiped out. They have always been loyal bannermen to Winterfell with Karstark men dying in the name of Stark. Even in the time of the books, during the war of five kings, House Karstark remain loyal to Ned Stark and even are among the first to name his son King in the North. In this video, we learn about there ancient history and why they are among the Great Northan Houses.

Alys Karstark is a badass. It wouldn't surprise me if she gives Stigorn a run for his money. It was honestly a brilliant move politically. Marrying the Thenns to House Karstark makes any future children between the two Stark relatives by blood.

I like how the Starks build a cadet branch it’s cool. But I do think they should of did like dragon stone to king landing thing the ruler of the north ruled at winterfell while the heir has karhold until he comes of ages or his time to rule.

One thing I've always been curious about is how many men Rickard Karstark brought with him when Robb called his banners. Are there any resources that give even a rough number?

Not to my knowledge, but we can deduce it is not as much as the freys but a significant enough number to be a real worry

Where is the information that Eddard plans for jon to have his own vadet house.? And isent there more vader branch of house stark? Harborstark and barrowstark? Or are those fiction?

Off the top of my head a bulk of it comes from a game of thrones & storm or swords. Gist is Benjen, Ned and the Watch had a plan to raise lords in the gift who could help protect from wildling raids and farm and provide recourses for the watch. It’s suggested that Ned would have wanted to raise Jon as one of these minor lords. I made a brief video on it ages ago Here kzbin.info/www/bejne/kImnho2kgJyGgKM But you can google Ned’s dream for spring or his plan of the gift and find lots of info, The only other cadet branch I know is 100% cannon is the Greystarks of the wolf’s den. There may be more but karatarks and greystarks are the only ones I’ve heard of

White Harbor and Barrowton are considered to be likely options.[1] Some younger Starks have also held vassal holdfasts for the lords of Winterfell.[3] So i belive we have some unconfirmed starks in White harbor and barrowtown. And also. My favorit house is house manderly. 😁

I guess the idea of some Starks off in the world doing their own thing would explain why the main Stark branch seems so small. Manderley is one of my favorite houses, very unique. I just finished editing a video on them, should be out in a week or two
