They're fictional characters, and the fact that they're the protagonists and the villains is what many people like. I like them because I find them more interesting than goody two shoes good guys who do the right thing just because it's the right thing. I also like them because, like I mentioned at the start, good guys win ALL THE FREAKING TIME. Give me something else. Even when villains are the protagonists they end up losing. I want something else. I want to see a bad guy win for a change. And I mean a permanent win. Not just a "they won now but they'll lose later". I know that's highly unlikely.
