Daemon and Rhaenyra's plan is to help Laenor got his freedom and so they could marry. They never wanted to kill Laenor, Rhaenyra actually have love for him.

I wish they showed a little bit of the time rhaenyra, laenor, laena and daemon spent together in the time jump, the four were said to be inseparable, especially the women and they spent theyre days flying their dragons. Because without it Daemon and Rhaenyra seem rushed, where as with that context, they would appear more as grieving lovers who joined forces after both losing so much to get revenge

Daemon isn't just being a dick when he laughs at Laena's funeral. Vaemond, the brother of Corlys, all but outright calls out Rhaenyra's children for not having true Valyrian blood. Daemon laughs because Vaemond is barely trying to hide it by the end of his speech.

He was also doing it to pull attention to himself. Disrupting the chain of thought Vaemond was building. Trying to shield Rhaenyra and her sons from the veiled accusation.

This episode was absolute incredible. That old school Game of Thrones feeling really came back. Everyone stepped up their acting, but I was most impressed with the child actors. I was always pumped for the next episode, but now I'm hooked. Also, the King still hanging in there with his health and the stress from his family during that time period is the craziest part. He said he's going 15 rounds with death.

Laena was dying in childbirth. There was no saving the mother. Daemon looked like he wasn't going to order a C-section but Laena did not wait on that decision and chose go out on her terms. But her death was assured when the child became breeched. So it really was an act of the gods, and Daemon had no part in it...

That's what I always get confused about with these reactors they act as if they are causing the mums death. The mother will die anyway the only choice is to save the baby....

Pay attention to Alicent's daughter Halaena. She is definitely a dreamer. Remember in Episode 6 when Alicent told Aemond he’ll get a dragon one day? Helaena said “He’ll have to close an eye.” Also in this episode Helaena was playing with a spider and repeatedly said “Hand turns loom, spool of green, spool of black, dragons of flesh, weaving dragons of thread.” So she's predicting the Black Vs. Green conflict in her Targaryen family! So Helaena predictions are coming true. 😉

I'm really glad Laenor got a happy ending. Maybe he'll show up again in the future, especially since his dragon is still there, but at least he got to be with someone he loves after all his suffering.

Viserys very clearly cared more about protecting his daughter's children's true identity than he did about his own son's life-threatening injury. If I was the Queen the King would’ve had to deal with a lot more. When Viserys is raging at Aegon (great acting by Paddy Constantine btw) and you can clearly tell the boy is shaken inside. But he doesn't lose frame. The biting resentment with which he delivers that line "We know father. Everyone knows" tells you everything you need to know about our next king. Yeah alpha uncle beach sex is cool and all but it’s every one of these scenes with Alicent, Otto, Aegon that are A1.There’s two sides to this Targaryen coin, try not forgetting that part.

I love the time jumps in this season and assume that if there are some in the next they'll be small considering the shorter time frame. But what we've gotten is a well rounded and full view of these characters their motivations and where they've come from over the course of their lives this season.

The gods was cruel not daemon lol he nodded no when the maester asked if they wanted to cut laena open and the first thing he asked was if she would live but when viserys was asked in episode 1 he asked would the kid survive. That lets you know daemon does cares and rhaenyra always loved daemon lol the lovers rhaenyra had was all a substitute for daemon even when she had sex with Cole it was only because daemon didn’t finish. Also daemon laughed because corlys brother was dissing rhaenyra and her kids so he laughed to take the attention away from them but not everybody understood what vaemond was saying because he was speaking valryian. The king coulda killed him there because it was treason tbh.

It is always worth paying attention to Halaena (Alicent's daughter) and what she says. She doesn't talk much, has hardly any screen time and when she speaks, she speaks in riddles. But in principle, she's a running spoiler. But you usually don't know what she means until it happens. Deamon's laughter at the funeral had a reason. He even cares a lot. It was a direct reaction of the words just spoken, which was more of a hidden insult. When Deamon said he wanted to have the murder among witnesses, it was already foreseeable that the whole thing was fake. When Deamon killed the randon guy it was clear. Also, Deamon never spoke of murder, but of a place where you can live carefree if you only have money.

Hahaha. You really missed Daemon and Rhaenyra's whole plan despite them laying it out for you throughout that whole montage. Daemon literally killed the man they used to replace Laenor in the fire. They just want people to think they were involved so that they would be feared and Rhaenyra's claim and her sons legitimacy would be strengthed. Most other reactors figured it out at the end, but they got you hook, line and sinker.

I must admit, in the moment I also totally misinterpreted "granting Laenor this kindness": Coming from Daemon, I was sure it meant ending his life... It was only once the episode was over, letting it all sink in and thinking about all that had happened - especially Daemon killing that random guy, which didn't make any sense to me at first - that I understood that Laenor escaping/hiding was their plan all along

See this might be one where those who have read the books were probably more fooled than those who haven't. Laenor dies in the books so I was fully expecting his death and didn't question it at all. I wasn't that keen on how rushed and contrived it felt... until they reveal they led me on and suddenly it all makes sense. Of course the argument between Qarl and Laenor looked fake - it was haha!

The episode showed Daemon killing some random on the stairs, so that when we saw Leonor and Carl together at the end, we'd realize that it was someone else killed and burnt ... i.e. the dude Daemon killed. Meaning, Daemon was in on getting Laeonor out without killing him.

You’re completely mistaken on laenas death she killed Herself because she was going to die giving birth and wanted a dragon riders death. Not to get away from daemon. Vhagar was reluctant but did it because she didn’t want her rider to suffer. Daemon and laenas relationship was fine he just would’ve rather had rhaenyra. He had no part in her death aside from getting her pregnant and cared for her

Aemond did nothing wrong. Attacked 4v1 for a few mean words, and defended himself. Tried not to escalate it by just pushing the first kid instead of attacking. But only after being punched did he fight back. Also the dragons aren't property. They're incredible sentient weapons that decide whether or not to accept a rider. There's a possibility Vhaegar wouldn't have accepted Laena's kid's as riders.

If this show qualifies for next years Emmy’s it’s going to give better call Saul season 6 part 2 a run for it’s money even though BCS s6 is a better season than season 1 of HOTD they’re both really good…..I still think that BCS deserves to win best drama best lead actress for Rhea and it needs win a writing and directing Emmy the way it weaved past present and future together to end the show but Paddy Considine is making me nervous that Bob Odenkirk wasn’t the lock for his first Emmy win as I thought he was

I don’t get how people dislike Aemond this episode, he’s an absolute boss. And I don’t think he started the fight with the kids. He “started it” by claiming Vhaegar (even though it’s a mutual relationship) but the other kids swung first and Rhaneryas kids got more lethal than Aemond did. Plus he had one of the coldest lines of the show “I may have lost an eye, But I gained a dragon”.

I mean, I like Aemond well enough, but he could have waited a day before claiming Vhagar instead of the day of her rider's funeral. At least go the next morning. I'm not excusing Jace, he should know better, but Luke is a legit tiny boy who was really just terrified. He's just trying his best man. Also punching little girls who just lost their mom isn't a great look either. Can I appreciate his tenacity? Absolutely, but he's not blameless in this situation. Did he deserve what he got? No. Of course not. But honestly, he looks way cooler now.

Most people I’ve seen in comments try to make Aemond the good party when in real all the kids were just kids here, they all were wrong in action. Aemond was cool? Absolutely. Did he deserve to get his eye pierced? Hell no. Did he win Vhagar fairly? Yes. So where did he go wrong? He went wrong in claiming the dragon right on the funeral of its rider, as if he couldn’t wait just for one more morning to pass so that the kids of last rider could’ve fair chance too. Then went on to being cocky with the last rider’s children who are still grieving, even threatening to feed them to their own mother’s dragon. The most unrealistic part is him not having empathy for Rhaena when he was in the same shoes as her moments ago. Did he really expect not to deserve a punch at least. The only thing I think shouldn’t have happened was Jace and Luke getting involved in the fight but again they felt also felt threatened for their beloved cousin. Jace bringing a weapon was the most wrong point of this fight, can’t blame Luke cause he was only trying to save himself and his brother.
