Emma Darcy deserve an emmy for emotional performance of this episode they did a great job handled grieving of lucerys was absolutely phenomenal you could feel rhaenyra grief ,and rage especially about the loss of her son seeing jacaery crying, and breaking down was heartbreaking.

I hate how Ryan handled the final B and C scene. We didn't need the gore but intense emotions or reaction from Halaena. Her blood-curdling scream would've sufficed in the end.

​@@louyou6614 it's not even about the way she acts. But the entire thing. The castle is empty, there are no servants, no guards anywhere. B&C can just walk in and do their killing. Helaena doesn't get to choose between her children, doesn't offer herself in their stead. And worst of all, she walks in on her mother giving her LC a pony ride. That legit takes the seriousness from the scene. No joke, I forgot about the child dying, and started laughing when I saw that. Legit no gravitas, no tragedy. It's just a telenovella sex comedy.

Blood and Cheese killing is different from the Dance of the Dragon history & lore. They didn't make make one talk in the living child's ear of "Your mama wants you dead", before slicing the other's throat.

That's the general consensus. My KZbin queue is filled with like 20+ videos of people talking about the episode. I haven't watched them all yet, but there definitely is a running theme of "Blood and Cheese were way worse in the books." I'm just heartbroken for Helaena. I don't think you even have to know what happens in the books to figure out that she's not going to handle this well. She's so kind and good and nothing like her family, she was the last one who deserved to be punished.

Forgetting true fans have read. And your stupidity in blood and cheese. There is meant to be three kids, and Helaena has to choose which son dies, and they kill the other one. It was the whole point of the murder, was that moment. Not a lazy murderer asking her which kid is male and not looking.

Always felt in Sympathy with Aegon like Viserys and Alicent always pressured him and never really gave him an ounce of Affection. In contrast to Viserys has for Rheanyra or Alicent has towards Heleana or Aemond. Yea now we could see that he is trying to give his children what he never had (it is bittersweet)

It would be nice if they changed the format used for these ‘inside the episode’ clips every once in a while. Doing it the same way GoT did it makes me afraid I will one day be listening to this showrunner telling about every bad writing decision he made in the series finale. The viewers remember.

I feel like they kind of gave it away, but maybe that's just because I knew what was going to happen. They named the episode "A Son for a Son" and they literally talked about killing one the Green boys in the trailer. Yes, the one who actually ended up dying was probably shocking for people who didn't read the books, but you knew going into this episode that there would be one less Green when it was all over. But that's my only complain and it's minor. It was a phenomenal episode.

I think despiste somewhat bond and loyalty Criston has with Alicent as both co-captain of Team Green and as her lover and his hatred for Rhaenyra for all those years, he still loves and desires Rhaenyra which he hate himself for it and is to prideful to admit after she broke his heart and choosed the crown and Daemon, thats why everytime he has sex with Alicent he thinks of Rhaenyra which is why he didn't harm her children when Aemond lost his eye, althrough he wants to her make suffer and see her and her children and allies murdered, he does not want to be the one doing such horrible deed out of love, guilt and mercy, thats why continues sleeping with Alicent and he has not laid a finger on Rhaenyra and her children, it must be hard that the person and woman he hates the most is at the same time the woman and person he still loves the most, the only who knows and suspects is Larys, thats my theory on Criston Cole for this second season of HOTD
