I feel like a lot of people underestimate daemons loyalty to his family just because he is basically unpredictable and impulsive and it was the same for viserys and now rhaenrya and he is right him going to harrenhal is the best thing for HER war and has been wanting to go since season finale but then Luke died so him leaving was not to just “fuck shit up” but still sticking to the plan he mentions about going to harrenhal to raise an army in her name. The show runner has said this season he is excited about daemons arc/journey (no spoilers obvs) Remember this is a man who believes they killed viserys to put aegon on the throne and then step son killed by the enemy who he hated from the start and hated that viserys trusted Otto more. The minute he heard his brother had died he immediately wanted to take action on that alone. Also the whole “daemon wanting for power” convo is very S1 for me because so many (actors and show runners) have said a few times that the thrown was never something what he pushed for but more on just the fact that his brother took it from him because it was his inherence. Even if he didn’t want or care for it it was still his so a he can still be salty about it. It’s like Corleys and Rhaenys, she moved on but corleys couldn’t and still was fighting for that legacy so once something was yours it’s had to let it go. Even in this ep daemon still says “my brothers throne” because to him its his brother legacy that his trying to protect because I think he still hasn’t fully accepted that his brother is dead.

Yeah its sad people just dont have the brain capacity to understand a complex character and where he's coming from they all think he's out for power and that he wants the throne🤦♂️

Love your perspective! Very open to still seeing Daemon develop and progress as a character. My take is that Daemon does desire power. However maybe control is the better word. In every action we have seen thus far in the show, we see him trying to control a situation and be a dominating force - whether it be grooming a teenage Rhaenyra, or rejecting reinforcements in the step stones and doing it all himself, or even now in orchestrating an execution behind rhaenyra’s back - he wants things done his way - though i definitely see his loyalty! He was loyal to Laena and equally to Rhaenyra, but I’m curious to see if his impulsivity and his need to be dominant remains a problem.

@@YounaPun from the GoT perspective most sought the throne. It was obvious when a character like Jon or Tyrion did not. So transfer here and people are trying to identify who is in play for it. Of course this conflict is different. Daemon would have accepted if he was hand for his brother and heir and either had a son with first wife or Alicent and named him heir or named Rhaenyra after showing trust and reliance on Daemon as a brother.

@@redox.cinema I think people also seem to forget that she asked HIM to marry for the main reason to make her claim stronger. After ep 7 in driftmark and the whole eye situation she needed him by her side for her strength. And if you remember there is a chat he and viserys had where he asked him to come back to kingslanding at leanas funeral and made he clear that we was going to go back to pentos with his daughters and I think in that moment that’s sign no 1 of the resentment he still held for viserys. In a another timeline it would’ve been different and he would’ve gone back to pento but then comes the question would he still play a big part in the war (marriage or not?) absolutely because that’s his family and he was on rhaenryas side from the beginning. Even in ep 4 when they watch that play she talks about the options of the small folk means nothing to her and he makes it clear “they mean a great deal if you plan to rule them one day” I saw someone who made a comment that made sense with his character which is daemon will do want he does if it means in his eyes he is fight on the right cause but yes his rogueness gets him in trouble. He likes the chaos but doesn’t like to be held down in being told what to do but would rather do in in his own pace. It’s like when you start to do the dishes in your house and you parents come in to remind you to do the dishes but can’t give you credit. He is loyal but yet question his loyalty but a few actions. You says she can’t trust him and that she never fully trusted from the start where in ep 7 when she had the plan for laenors “death” says “now they will fear what else we might be capable of” in making the people fear them as a pairing. You want him to be hardcore to plan to kill a random man to make laenors death real and believable but now apparently that’s too much because of “image”and let’s not forget vhaemond. I love rhaenrya but I feel like she’s not keeping the same energy he is (death of jaeherys aside) I think now moving forward for rhaenryas claim it could be seen now that daemon is not present how is that going I look when the point for rhaenrya asking him to marry was for the united image and daemons reputation

@@YounaPun acceptance is the biggest thing he has wanted from his brother even through his faults like being hand and wanting to be by his side and now rhaenrya is sounding almost like him in where she is pointing all the bad when that’s not his whole character at all. Daeron is the youngest son of Alicent and Viserys. He’s been living at oldtown as a squire for Lord Ormund Hightower which is why we haven’t seen him or heard of him. He’s very important in the books.

The teams thing is fun for marketing and generating interest, but really drama is important. The only right thing would have been the entire family backing Rhaenyra because Viserys never wavered once he named her. Publicly, on his last day alive he gave some of the last bits of himself to supporting her. She would not have threatening or harmed Alicent or her kids. Daemon would not have been pseudo King. The Targaryens forced the Realm to accept their practice of incest as they were special as Valerians and they would have done the same for a female heir. In unity they have all the dragons, no one would oppose them or her as queen.

Remember this is the Targaryen civil war, so blacks and greens are Targaryens. That said both sides more sympathetic than the book, more team black to me could be bias of showrunner or just because Rhaenyra is the rightful heir and makes her the natural choice to root for. If the family and Otto just backed her it would have been better. Also would be uninteresting 😂
