House of the Dragon covers a period of time where the Targaryen's ruled and dragons filled the skies, known as the Dance of the Dragons.
The Dance of the Dragons, also known as the Dying of the Dragons, was a civil war during Targaryen rule of the Seven Kingdoms. A war of succession between Aegon II and his half-sister Rhaenyra over their father Viserys I's throne, the war was fought from 129 AC to 131 AC.
This series will have will be a feast for the eyes with amazing locations, battles and of course dragons. With a healthy dose of political intrigue and dubious alliances.

Just wanted to share that you do an absolutely terrific job with these episode recaps. I admit that I have not read a single George R. R. Martin book but was obsessed with the original Game of Thrones series so of course I was looking forward to House of the Dragon. The first 3 episodes didn't give me the excitement that Season 1 of the original series did so I went searching for recap channels and stumbled across your explanation of each of the dragons and was hooked!!! Your narration is so clear and just full of great information for those of us who are too lazy to read the books. But you've inspired me to get reading once House of the Dragon Season 1 is over. The dragon that Aemond encountered in the pit is Dreamfyre, Helaena's dragon. As many have point out, it displayed a faint tint of blue. It is confirmed.

Nice, I wasn't 100% sure if it was Dreamfyre, Vermithor or Silverwing. But Dreamfyre does seem to make the most sense.

Wouldn't it be enticing at some point of the storyline, under circumstances when Rhaenyra suddenly brings up the topic where she didn't consume the moon tea to reveal Jacerys is actually the son of Criston Cole... Much to his horror, realising he has been treating his son horribly all this while. If this plot falls true how delicious the popcorn fest would be... 🤣

A Dance with Dragons - GRRM. Book 5 in the A Song of Ice and Fire series. The quote is from the prologue chapter. The chapter is filled with alot of information about Wargs and Skingchangers, it's worth a read. Sorry forgot to add the reference in the video.

I don’t get it. If Rhaenyra is going to be Queen of the Seven Kingdoms, what would stop her from just legitimizing her bastards? I thought lords can and do this all the time. Even Robb Stark as King in the North wanted to legitimize Jon Snow and make him his heir.

This is a great point. Though I think if she did that it would just provide alot of the realm with just another reason to back Aegon.

Only the king (or in this case, queen) has that authority, and if she waited until Viserys is dead the lords might say that she was named heir under false pretenses, i.e. lying to Viserys.

First, bc she is a woman. As GRRM has said, his stories take place in a paternalistic medieval world. Here, women don’t have the same freedoms as men. 2. The end result would still be, “A Dance of Dragons,” particularly if you look at the consequences of Aegon IV Targaryen’s decision to do the same, resulting in the Blackfyre Rebellion upon his death.

Because to legitimatize Rhaenyra's sons, they would have to admit that Rhaenyra committed treason by having children out of wedlock as the heir. sure they could do it but think about how the common folk would lose faith in the monarchy if they don't even follow their own rules publicly

I can't wait. Though I do hope they show the Greens to be a bit more sympathetic in later seasons and really drive home the morality issues at the core of Fire and Blood.
