Oh and Helaena followed Aemond into the throne room just to have an Alys Rivers moment.
@CultureVultureMedia14 ай бұрын
Helaena emoting at random places is such a strange thing to have her do after what she's been through... Quite different from her dialogue with Alicent. Love a human conversation.
@eb74464 ай бұрын
But being cupbearer is a pretty big deal. She was sitting in on and listening to every small council meeting. I presume Viserys wanted to her learn what ruling was. And that was before Viserys ever named her heir. So it's sort of weird to diminish it s "pouring wine for the noble male council members".
@CultureVultureMedia14 ай бұрын
Rhaenyra even admited she gets it when speaking to Lucerys in S1E10. It's like the writers didn't even watch their own show - which might even be true, if the writer strike is the reason for this fluctuating dialogue.

Glad I wasnt the only one bothered about how they took their sweet time getting Aegon back to Kings Landing, despite how critical "the next few hours were." Flying aside, to see his box part of their "Melys R ded" parade, and going so damn slow was nuts!

Well now I feel stupid for not noticing the Riverlands were mountainous. They really couldn't have picked somewhere a little more flat? Love your videos, I look forward to them as much as the actual episodes. I mostly enjoy them (the episodes) at the time, but I'm constantly watching for bad writing. Fair play for catching so much of it.

Thanks Chris, glad you like them :) I try my best to highlight what's interesting about the story, but with so little build up, and so many inconsistencies, there's only so much I can do x) Hope season 3 is better haha
@christianlovelock39104 ай бұрын
@@CultureVultureMedia1 Yes! There's no excuse for inconsistencies. I recently watched a video by Savage Books which also really highlighted the lack of character building most of the characters have had, particularly the dragon riders and their dragons. They really needed to take this a little slower, but it seems they just wanted to skip ahead to the exciting parts. Or they lacked the skill/capabilities to flesh out the story and characters. Looking forward to your next video!

note for the video on episode 7: here in episode 5, Renata's son Jack Harris suggested that they pick potential dragon riders from among the Tragarien bastards. But in episode 7 which aired yesterday he complains about his mother's decision to have more bastards riding dragons, since he himself is a bastard, and that threatens his status as heir to the throne by making other bastards his equals. Which is sound reasoning... but... on the other hand, he's the one who suggested it in the first place. Looks like another case where the writers forgot what they wrote two episodes ago, unless i'm missing something

The people thinking dragons "was gods" was a silly line. Most of them would know of the legendary dragons that are dead eg Balerion. The small folk are more scared of Rhaenyra's retribution, hence why they're scrambling to leave the city (along with having no food). I hope the pace of the show picks up, there's only 3 episodes left 😢 would love to finally see Rhaenyra get out of Dragonstone, and Daemon's shroom trip in Harrenhall to end 🙄 (then again, I have a theory on that) Great episode again guys! Keep up the great work! ❤ Theory: I believe, and I may be mistaken, that Daemon's death after the battle over the Gods Eye he's presumed dead but his body is never found. I wonder if he disappears onto the Isle of Faces and lives out his life with the strange Alys Rivers...? Probably not, but I like the idea, considering they're keeping him at Harrenhall doing basically nothing but tripping 🍄
@CultureVultureMedia14 ай бұрын
What do you mean, Rhaenyra went to Storm's End that one time - oh and let's not forget when she snuck into King's Landing ;) I like your idea of Daemon living on in exile. It'd be more like him to go out blazing though 👀

Thank you, glad you liked the video :) Don't hate me, but I'll argue that this show never had much to offer in the first place. Although, the last couple episodes have been so full of contradictions, I'm starting to think the writers are having beef with each other over where this is all going x)

Having now read most of the Fire & Blood and knowing how Dance of the Dragons went down it makes be incredibly mad to see how they wasted the potential and instead of giving us an exciting and shocking season, full of action, they gave us one battle, lots of uninteresting dialogs and Daemon with his damn visions. I feel like every single change they did was strikingly stupid.

People who think HOTD is slow have never watched the good seasons of GOT. We can make fun of this show like Culture Vulture does, without ever impying the action heavy seasons 5-8 of GOT are somehow better than the political drama of seaspns 1-4 of GOT.
@CultureVultureMedia14 ай бұрын
In my review of HOTD Season 1, I pointed out how the narrative is unfolding slowly, while still feeling rushed. The themes are so shallowly explored (when they're not spelled out by heavy-handed dialogue), which makes it a strange mix of the worst of both worlds. As someone who's watched my fair share of GoT, I recommend watching the early seasons paralell with HOTD to see the stark contrasts in pacing; especially how much time elapses before dialogue starts in a given scene, and, of course, the quality of the dialogue, not to mention the disparity in inconsistencies.
