I suspect that you’ve mainly met the Aussies who I’d call loud and obnoxious and far too interested in alcohol and spectator sport. I can’t stand that type myself. Jesse is one of the good ones and his immediate family are all doctors. I’ve never heard a bad word against him. We have some who you’d never guess were Australian. Two who come to mind are Sir Christopher Clark, Regius Professor of History at Cambridge University and Prof. Alan Ebringer, an immunologist at King’s College in London. They’re both on KZbin and both speak RP English (received pronunciation) - the accent you hear from BBC newsreaders. There are plenty more nice ones but we tend to remember the most awful members in a particular society. (How on earth Donald Trump got even one vote is beyond my comprehension!!) It’s a shame that there’s been some past friction between some of our shared politicians but let’s hope that positive individuals like us will change that for the better. 👋👋
