Why are these houses always staged in various shades of grey and with naff mirrored wardrobes? It's a lovely house though. Hopefully, the building specs are of a high standard.

Probably bricks and mortar only, although the washer/dryer/cooker/fridge might be included, and it's GB Pounds not US Dollars, that's about $945,000 today! Yep, welcome to the crazy world of UK house prices.

New build homes usually include appliances, but the ones in show homes could be upgraded, as could the floors, cupboards, tiling etc. The types of each chosen for the show home might be more expensive than the basic ones included with the home. But new homes wouldn’t be furnished.

@@susie2251 Where in the US? The USA is such a vast country that you must have huge variations in price depending on the state/ area within the state? Can't imagine Manhattan is comparable to small town Dakota.
